So like this fella before me ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/490568-all-these-asus-g73jh-problems-3.html#post6352209) I had a click occuring whenever there was pressure applied and released to the left palm rest. Wanting to do a repaste anyways, I decided to investigate, and am posting my findings for anyone having the same issue.
Going into it, reviewing said members conversation with Ken, as well with one of my own, it was expected to be a screw loose in the trackpad area. This ended up not being the case.
Essentially, the subwoofer is contained in a plastic gizmo, which has some nice squishy rings to mount on some pokey mounting bits, but comes in contact with the bottom of the case. Thus, when it is pushed, there is a slight gap, and a tap against the case. After repasting the GPU I had some spare thermal padding squished out from the surrounding squares, so I stole some of it, and squished it on the contact point for the subwoofer. Magically, the problem is solved, and my left palmrest is silent! (images at bottom)
Paste seems to be working well; I only hit the GPU since the CPU had a scary "warranty void" sticker that I ended up not having the balls to remove. Will suffer higher CPU temps to stay under warranty.
Used the disassembly video found here and the documentation from Ken here. Video was amazing, some additional tips: all blue cables seem to have a black/brown latch; flip this then slide out the ribbon, don't force it. There's also a clear tape on a few of them. I found it useful to drop the screws into an ice cube tray, left to right in order of removal.
Did have a casualty though, my spacebar doesn't click anymore and has become "sticky." Still works, but it's hard to feel if it's hit or not. =( The keyboard is the one thing I think is pretty flimsy/cheap on this machine; pretty much have to bend/warp it to get it out. Everything else was sturdy and sound. If someone has a tip about the spacebar clickiness, I'm all ears!

Post Op: CRISIS AVERTED! The spacebar works fine now; just needed some jostling with the business end of a flathead screwdriver. There's some kind of film/plastic surrounding it and it wasn't seated properly between the button and the keyboard mount. Pushing it back in fixed it. So happy. ;D

Glad you fixed clicking sound problem. I don't have that problem but it'll get on my nerve if it does.

Hello I had squiking problems on left side of keyboard and fixsed it with tape on this bar on left side which is over dvd drive bay. so noe top cover dont touchinit directly and that removed squiking completely.

Mine clicks like this. It's kind of a lot to take apart, but I'm pondering following these instructions. Thanks for uploading some pics and how you did it.

Woo! I RMA'd it and they replaced the "top case" which is now working. If it appears again, I'll remember this thread.
Also, for those that don't have the problem -- it's not just a clicking noise, you can feel the click, too. -

Mine clicked like this, I just loosened a few screws on that corner, pried it open a little, and slipped a folded piece of cardboard in it.
Problem solved. -
Wow, I hope I'm not too late that nobody sees this post. I'm actually having this clicking problem too which is really annoying when I use the touchpad. So whats the best way to get this fixed exactly? I thought about sending it to ASUS but schools already started and I kinda need it for my hw. Does anyone know how long it takes to send it? Otherwise if I open it myself will I void any warranty? I'm tempted to just send it though since I have 1 bright pixel anyway since I got the machine. I hardly notice it but i'm picky and with the whole case thing now I kinda wanna get em both out the way.

Oh, man, I have the same problem with you guys.....
and thanks for the info, Shiboe. But for now, I don't want to reopen it, as aramis109 said, it's kind of a lot to take apart, maybe next time when I do my second repaste...
