Hi all, I have been a G73 owner for a couple of months now and I have worked through all my problems up to this point.
I currently have no GSODs or any of the other problems I am seeing on this forum..besides the keyboard lag. I am going to try the disable it in BIOS for now until I see a better fix...am I missing a better fix?
The actual reason for this post though is that all of a sudden I am getting random times where any black on my screen is showing as red. Like the Windows load screen is a glaring red color. The windows screen looks reddish (normal background) and it is noticeable in games I play. It has only happened 2-3 times so far and only lasts about 1-2 hours it seems.
I have done some searching and in my repair experience this seems to me to be a lcd cable problem or maybe the lcd converter. I do have a warranty on this, but am I afraid to send off because this is so intermittent. I have been waiting for it to get horrible before I do. I am also a little timid to crack this open as I have not seen a teardown guide for this to go and look at the lcd cables. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

My entire screen got vertical red lines like a month ago on my g73. However in my case, the red lines were going on and off when I move the screen or while typing. As I have disassembled it before, I've did it again and replugged the lcd cable. No issues so far, I hope I didn't damaged the cable somehow.

In your case, if it happens again try moving the screen and laptop, see if its sensible to movement. Seems like a lcd issue as you have mentioned.
There are disassembly guides to disassemble the notebook, to reach the lcd Lvds cable you need to disassemble the whole thing. Your problem may not be solved by replugging it in, so think twice if you are going for it
Here are some links to help you to disassemble the notebook, you can see the LVDS cable on page 2-13 on the guide.

Ironically, I made a post of this in the G73Jh owners lounge. However, on my G73, my grays turn like a bluish color. You can see the video here in this link. Video - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
Hook up an external monitor and it won't happen. I just don't want to send my laptop for repair in this particular instance, i'm afraid it'll come back a hot mess... -
Keyboard lag is fixed.

This isn't a psod is it? -
No, not a psod. Colors not displaying properly on the lcd indicates a monitor problem. When an external monitor is hooked up to the laptop, the problem does not occur. PSOD is an entirely different story.

Correct, I think its a cable problem to be honest since it is so intermittent. I am going to see if there is anything kinked up. I have searched this forum high and low and have not found anything about a wireless driver having problems, but there is definitely something wrong. I get latency spikes a lot. It says I have the most updated driver possible. When I get home I will see if I can post a screen shot.

I've just had exactly the same thing happen on a G73JW.
