    Hello all,

I have had my G73jh for about 8 months now and have loved it. I recently have noticed that my CPU core temps at idle have started to fluxuate 5-10degrees and constantly bounce around a few degrees up and down. This has just started happening today and being inexperienced with computers I have been looking online for hours to see if i could find anybody else with a similar problem, and what might be the cause. The temperatures never really goes too hott usually bouncing between 40-50 degrees at idle (where normally they would be at around 39-40) and about 60ish while gaming. Even now the temps havent broke 60C but watching the temperatures jump around while my computer is idle is starting to worry me. Any suggestions or ideas on what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

(P.S i have done all the Bios and Vbios updates and all that myself when i purchased the PC and so nobody is confused it is only my CPU temps that are spiking my GPU temps are completely the same idle/while gaming.)

It's quiet normal for it to jump, don't worry about it.

Ok I hope so because until today I certainly have not seen my CPU temps at idle jump up and down by 10 degrees and fluxuate as rapidly as they were, but I do appreciate the quick replay and welcome all other replies as well. Thanks again!

Did you do any sort of changes to your system in terms of software installed etc. If there's something new running that uses the CPU periodically, it could explain your temps. That or your usage pattern changed, i wouldn't sorry unless you start getting very high temps. My CPU temps are alsk behaving like yours but they are stable at 70C after 1 hour of prime95 torture test. That's way below the danger zone for an i7.

EDIT: Please, excuse the typos, im typing this from an ipod touch. Well i think i fixed most of them but the kb on ipod/phone isn't suited to my fingers.

No I havent made any changes really to my computer recently besides some windows updates which I did not even consider, as well as some recent update that keeps failing everytime I reboot the update which is a whole other issue haha . Well I'm certainly glad to hear other people with fluxating temperatures like that and your typos are excused :D. I fat finger to death when i use my ipod touch even with my skinny fingers so completely understandable haha. And yeah my temperatures have come no where near to dangerous yet which and hope to keep it that way for some time! Thanks for the response!

Gald you asked, I am using Hwinfo gadget for the past hour, just surfing forum and playing music with WMP and CPU temps on all cores range from 41-45 C.

If you recently installed a different AV, it might be scanning every file that you open (assuming it never scanned it before), this cause a sudden spike in CPU usage (goes from 1-2% to like 10-20%) for a few seconds, this can cause the temp to go up as much as 15C.

Hmmm today i just turned on my laptop and my idle temps have already hit a min of 37 and a max of 50 doing nothing at all except opening this website. I'm not sure what the difference is but it seems like the gap is starting to grow, although my pc seems to be running fine. The temperatures are still bouncing up and down by 5-10 degrees constantly and rapidly. Maybe this is something I am just going to have to be used to I dunno haha.

Edit: Oh yeah and I have no recently installed any new AV software.
