    Hi All
Today I have bought G73jh and having a problem with webcam - USB 2.0 2.0M UVC Webcam Chicony. The problem is that after a few seconds of webcam work system is hanging and nothing can be done - only system restart.
It does not matter what programme I use Skype or LifeFame, always is the same.
I have Windows 7 64 and I installed all drivers from Asus.

Any idea what can be a root cause of the issue?

Do you have an issue just going into Control Panel -> Ease of Access Center? Do you have the Sound Blaster Audigy HD installed? If so, uninstall Sound Blaster Audigy HD package.

I figured it was worth a shot since Webcam applications also use audio and the Sound Blaster Audigy HD from ASUS is known to cause the system to hang.

Have you tried reinstalling the webcam driver or tried installing a newer driver version?

Unless we have different Driver and Utility discs, the archives are not internally the same. My disc is v1.0.

As I mentioned in the guide (see sig), you can't go by version number. At the ASUS website there are two drivers listed. They are:

    Chicony_CNF_7129_CR Camera Driver
    Chicony_CNF_7246_CR Camera Driver

If you have a 2.0MP camera, then you want the Chicony_CNF_7246_CR Camera Driver. If you have a 1.3MP camera, then you want the Chicony_CNF_7129_CR Camera Driver. You can check which camera you have from Device Manager.

The disc contains both sets and includes x86 and x64 versions. I have downloaded both x64 sets and when a binary comparison is performed between what ASUS has made available they are not the same as the ones included on the disc. Even though they both have the same version number.

While I know that some files on the ASUS site appear to be corrupt, in this case there are four files that are different, they are:

    DrvInst.exe
    sncduvc.sys
    snp2uvc.sys
    vsnpvc64.dll

I don't read binary, so I don't know if the differences between the disc version and the ASUS version is major. All I know is that the differences are not subtle.

At this point, I would say reinstall the one from the disc.

Is there a way to fix the LAG on the webcam?
