Hi everyone!
Im thinking of buying G73, but I will be in the USA( I'm living in San Francisco, California) only for a month more ( I am leaving in september, 20 ) ....
anyway, there turned out to be quite a few different models, and i'm not shure which would be the best choice at the moment....and how long does it usually takes to deliver one, and what kind of delivery would be the best as I live at the hotel....
I've been searching this forum, but haven't found anything about taxes on buying online... is it true that sometimes you don't have to pay taxes in California?Does Best buy also taxes your purchase?
and, last but not least what is the cheapest site to buy g73jh ? newegg.com ? bestbuy? xoticpc?
Any advice will be very much appreciated

You are taxed usually based on the state you are ordering from, and most often if you are buying from out of state then you are not usually taxed. However different states can have different tax laws about internet purchases. But as a whole if you buy and item on line say from California from Massachusetts the Massachusetts person is not taxed.
If you order online from Best Buy you could be taxed, you wont know till you go to checkout.
You have already listed some etailers so I imagine you can find the best deal.
the lowest I saw it was around $1489

The best thing to do is to stick with online merchants who you can trust! like newegg, amazon, bestbuy, xoticpc, excaliburpc, gentech, electronicexpo, buy.com, etc
Donot buy G73JH from Bestbuy because they give only 1 year USA warranty, All other websites and retailers will give you 2 year global warranty+ 1 year accidental coverage as standard.

As to the different models available:
Asus G73Jh Gaming Notebook Review - HotHardware
G73JH - A1 $1645 Includes Blu-ray drive / 1TB storage / ROG backpack and gaming mouse
G73JH - A2 $1549 Includes DVD drive instead of Blu-ray drive
G73JH - X1 $1449 Includes one 500GB HDD instead of two / No Blu-ray drive / No ROG backpack or gaming mouse
G73JH - X2 $1499 Same as X1 but includes Blu-ray drive
G73JH - X3 $1495 Includes two 320GB HDD's / No Blu-ray drive
The latest one thats come out is G73JH-B1 in Aug 25 2010 (few days ago)which is $200 more expensive($1750). It has an extremely very minor upgrade of cpu by 0.13ghz or (130mhz) which is worthless. The reason it is $200 more is that people are hoping that this newer model will solve some issues that all current G73JH users are facing.
On the other hand, G73JW which is an update to G73jh is about to be released for pre-order on Sep 3rd. I would recommend you wait till sep 3 to make a decision.
hope this helps! -
Thanks a lot, people!
And, does anyone know where the new G73jw will be availible for pre-order first? -
it officially doesn't exsist.. but from what i know , it should be 3-4 months time and have inferior components to G73JH..

P.S. sorry for my english -
www.gentechpc.com has it for pre-order but its not comming for 3-4 months.. i'd say G73JH is ur best bet for under a month.

You can see it right HERE -
Asus - Refurbished Laptop / Intel® Core i7 Processor / 17.3" Display / 6GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Black - RFA-G73JH-RBBX05
$1049 Refurbished... I might have to check their return policy on refurbs... It's an awesome deal, but I don't want to get a dud. -
I personally Would go with bestbuy.com Yes they dont offer the asus 360 warranty and yes its less spec, (less hard drive and the 2gbs of ram) But I saved some $$. Went over to Compusa/tigerdirect next to best buy, Bought a 512gb SSD through that in there, and bought another 4 gb of ddr3 ram, All in all best buy has it the cheapest and I cannot complain.

And what is the cheapest configuration with the 1080p screen?
