My g73jh is having an extremely loud noise from the fan even when it is idle, without any program running.
Checked the CPU temp. And it is 75celcius even when idle.
Needless to say it shuts down because of overheating all the time, even when just playing FIFA.

Is there any fix on this? I am pretty annoyed since it supposed should be a gaming laptop, but now it struggle to even play half a match in FIFA(not highest graphic setting)

Firstly get some compressed air to use on the fan vents, short sharp burst of air into both vents should shift any clogged dust out without damaging the fans.

It is most likely a blocked radiator which is why the hot air cannot be removed from the right side of the laptop and heat is building up.

Clean out both vents and then check your temps at idle and load with HWINFO.

If your CPU is still idling over 60oC and your ambient temps are not excessive 30oC+ for instance consider conducting a repaste.

Do I just Spray the compressed air from the outside? So through the hole on the left and right back? Just to make sure I am right, since I have never done anything like that before. Thanks
Also, does repasting mean I need to buy some stuff to do that? Or a screwdriver will do?
    Thanks again

There are plenty of threads about using compressed air. Never seen concerns about flammable compressed air being a hazard. If using a flammable type won't be a problem as long as you have the computer off (as you should whenever spraying any sort of air inside it) and are not smoking or in front of an open fire!

    I just use a can of non-toxic non-flammable air.

    1) Have computer off.
    2) Hold can upright to facilitate spraying of air (not the volatile liquid inside)
    3) Spray in both rear vents of the g73jh (hole on left and right, from the outside). Use short bursts and hope lots of dust comes back out. Stop when no more dust being removed.

I reckon you should clean the vents at least every 2 or 3 months, or whenever you notice a rise in temperature.

The G73JH is quite a pain to take apart, and it is possible to damage a few bits if you are not careful (beware the fragile speaker cable). If no luck with the compressed air, and under warranty, I'd RMA it to the ASUS service center and get them to fix it.

If you don't have a warranty/are feeling like living dangerously refer to the threads re. repasting. There is alot of info if you search. A couple of good threads are below to have a look at, and a video BTO Tech were nice enough to provide.

So does it mean that the fan should be facing the floor while doing the clean up? Or else, will the dust be blown into the computer instead out of it?
