Hi all,
I've had my laptop for at least 6 months now I think and it's been working fantastically (did have GSOD but Catalyst 10.1 drivers stabilized it), making World of Warcraft absolutely amazing to play hehe.
Unfortunately just yesterday I was using the shift key and I got this wierd digital sounding squeak/chirp. Not horribly loud but very noticeable. Then the sound was generated anytime I was using keys in the lower left part of the keyboard (shift, ctrl, caps). It seems to come and go...with the noises occurring for a few minutes and then quiet for a few. I started exploring the keyboard a bit and the noise was not only created by hitting the keys in the lower left area but also from pressing anywhere AROUND those keys (just pressing on the plastic around the keyboard).
Has anyone had this happen?? It's bizarre!

1) You can fix that by getting some support under the keyboard on that side. People have used cardboard or foam to give it some cushioning.
2) Your GSOD issue can be fixed with the vBIOS update linked below. Scroll up to the original post for instructions. You can then start using newer driver releases from AMD without issue. -
1) Oh thank goodness, I was worried it was a sign of something really bad. I can deal with adding some support!
2) Thanks to all the great info you guys have been posting, I'd finally worked up the nerve to get going on that. Have everything set and will be taking care of it tomorrow
