    my microphone freaked out.
I have a static noise (kind of "humming"),
whenever i rise the mic boost from zero it sound like i placed a huge fan infront of the mic and the static noise is much more louder, i cant use him cause without the boost no one hears me, and with the boost no one wants to hear me :D
    help guys?

Try changing Microphone Properties -> Advanced -> 44100Hz (CD Quality) and see if it does anything. Also turn on all the acoustic echo suppression in enhancement tab. The G73 mic is subpar and tends to echo a lot. Mine echoes when the noise gets too loud. It definitely echoes constantly if you turn dB boost above 10. I don't know why others can't hear you unless you increase the dB. Anyways, there shouldn't be anything wrong. It'll echo unless you use a headphone/earbuds as it will also take in what comes out of the speakers. It is better to use a dedicated headset if anything.

I have been having issues with people telling me via Skype and other chat services that they hear a constant humming noise that gets high and low. I can hear it when I set my microphone to play through the speakers; it sounds kind of like what a ghost would sound like. I had been able to get it to go away by both playing with the settings and using headphones, but it always seems to come back.

Thanks frosty, I think your solution may have solved my issue. I have a G73JW-XA1, but I'm glad that the issue is not unique to just my unit. I'll have to do a voice chat with friends to ensure the problem does not return.

It persists on mine still when I occasionally use it. It's the crappy noise cancelling and echo suppression. A bit too crappy for this expensive laptop, but meh. Most people probably use headsets anyway.

I have the same problem I think. Have done a lot of travelling with the laptop so maybe it got knocked. I have disabled the mic (can not find it to enable it again!) which has stopped the Audio feedback problem but I notice that if I touch anywhere around the mic, or even tap anywhere around the display panel, the mic seems to pick up the noise and play it back through my speakers. And this is even with mic disabled. Anyone have any ideas on this?
