Hi people. I'm new to this forum. Yea, I've been researching a lot about my problem my I couldn't find the solution yet, that's why I'm making a new thread.

Two years ago I bought my G73jh. I had the GSOD problems like many people had, but fixed that updating the BIOS (v213) and vBIOS (012.017.000.004.035992, as reported on GPU-Z). Everything was running fine.

The problem: I just formatted my pc, installed windows 7 hp and all the drivers, as usual. I'm running catalyst 12.8 now. And the strange thing is: I'M GETTING GSOD! Not only GSODs, but many other collors too (lol). Sometimes the screen freezes on blue, grey, pink.. aways with the vertical stripes. My temps are fine.

Something even stranger: there's a program called RWeverythin (know by many of you) that I can push the fans to the maximum. When I do this I get less bugs. Sometimes I can play for 2-3hours without any gsod, but, as far as I know, gsod aren't temperature related. This is so strange...

    anyone has faced it before?
I don't know what to do...

ps: sorry for any English mistakes

Have you tried other driver versions, maybe you have a corrupted install of the AMD drivers or your VRAM is on it's way (i sure hope it's not that).

I've used catalyst 12.7 and 12.8... same problems. I think that my 5870m is giving up on the fight :(

One thing I forgot to say is that I repasted and changed thermalpads on my JH yesterday. It didn't helped. Maybe i'll try the 7970m mod

Are you running Chastity's Vbios? I am and the version is 012.020.000.032.038352 ... according to HWinfo64.

According to this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...whats-your-video-card-driver-version-g73.html the Vbios you are on is Stock. I would double check the VBIOS version in CCC and upgrade to one of Chastity's 2 versions before considering a Card swap.
Let us know if you need tips if you choose to try my suggestion.

Josea is spot on you need .93 and your Vbios should read as his above. 012.020.000.032

The vbios you are on was riddled with problems before it was fixed with the .93 version and it is best to use the OD2 in order to overclock using Overdrive.

I'll try to flash it again. Yiddo or Josea, do you know where to find this vBIOS?
