I discovered something very peculiar with my g73 just this morning. For the last year that I've owned this machine, the 2 lights on the left side of the service panel (numlock + caps lock) both stay lit up after the machine is shutdown. I never paid much attention to this, because I didn't hear much significant noise from the machine when it was in this state. But just today, I've begun to worry.

I accidentally pulled out the AC power jack from laptop this morning, and both the lights went out immediately. Very confused with what happened, I plugged the chord back in again, and what did I know? The two lights powered on again. Upon closer inspection, I held my ear close to the machine while two the machine while the 2 lights were on, and I could notice a faint humming noise. When I the power cord was out and the two lights were off, the soft humming noise stopped. Which leads me to believe, that the processor has been running literally 24/7.

This has me very scared. This had been going on for almost a year and a half, and I had no idea that my machine had never truly been shut down.

Has anyone had this experience before? I already reflashed the bios, and the lights and humming noise are still on.

Check your BIOS setting first (213 ??) Disable wake on LAN. IF this does not solve it reset the BIOS to all defaults, there should be an option to easily do this. Please let us know.

Thanks for the advice, I flashed up to Chastity's 213 bios and disabled LAN wake up, but the low hum is still there.

I'd love to look at it if you want to RMA it to me. PM me if interested.

Also, which lights are on? Can I get a pic?
