This issue just started this morning. I've had this laptop since last February (maybe longer, don't know), but this morning about an hour after I turned it back on from sleep mode, the subwoofer started to make an annoying thumping sound. It's a constant thump that occurs about three times per second. Occasionally it will speed up or slow down, but usually stays at about the same pace. Plugging in headphones through both the audio jack and through USB does not stop it, nor does changing the volume level or muting. Tried playing music as well as a game, but the thump persists through those. Only way to stop it is by turning off the computer.

I uninstalled the Creative junk a long time ago, so that's not the issue and I haven't done anything lately to cause any changes. Last things I've done were adding a second hard drive and blu-ray drive well over a month ago.

Has anyone have something similar happen and has a remedy for the fix? Without bringing it in for repairs, that is. I can also live without the sub since I usually wear surround sound headphones, so if there's a wire I can snip, I'm open to that as well. I'd prefer to keep my regular speakers though, so I'd like to keep the one under the keyboard. :p

Yes there is a small wire that connects the subwoofter to the audio board , rest remove it, its like a clip, but to access that parts you have to dissassamble almost whole laptop. this is how it looks:

Thanks. Yeah, I'll just remove the entire subwoofer. I have no problem taking apart the laptop, have done so about 5 times already, the last time because I had a screw loose rattling around from taking it apart the time before that. :p

Are you sure it's not dubstep?

Stupid thing is now a refrigerator magnet. Thankfully I didn't have to take the motherboard out like I did when repasting. But still, so many screws.
