I have two problems i hope somone can shed light too.

Problem 1, I use the mouse that come with my g73 but somtimes it locks up. Most of the time its when i've left my g73 and its gone into screensaver. I move the mouse and the screensave remains working and won't move untill i press a key on the keyboard.

Problem 2, While my mouse is plugged in the touchpad does not respond but soon as i pull the mouse from usb it works fine.

For problem 2, there's an option under the synaptics control panel which says something like disable touchpad when external pointing device is plugged in or something of that sort. I think it's under the last tab in mouse properties in control panel. See if that is checked. If it is, uncheck it.
For problem 1, are you using the Razer mouse software? Mine used to lock up after i installed the Razer abyssus software which i then uninstalled. Not like the Razer software helps.

The factory loaded software for Mice give you the ability to turn it off when a Mouse is plugged in...

    Start
    Control Panel
    Mouse
    Device Setting
Look in the middel of the window for box to check
"Disable Internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached"

    maybe that box s checked

Have you tried using another mouse to see if the same problems exist with that one as well? Can you get out of the screensaver if you move the cursor using your touchpad?

Well my mouse stopped responding again while i was playing football manager 2012 but the touchpad was working fine. So i saved my game and pulled the mouse out from the usb port and plugged it back in but it still would not work and don't work in any ports. The only way the mouse will work again is by restarting the laptop and even then the laptop says shutting down but never does, i have to hold the power button down before i can shut the laptop down.
