Hi !
days ago when i powered my G73, it took him about 6 minutes to boot to the desktop, and it was very slow and after 2 or 3 minutes it froze !! so i decided to format, but when i try to boot from a windows DVD or an USB it won't boot i just get a black screen with a white cursor blinking on the upper left side of the screen, when i boot to safe mode, it takes 5 minutes to the desktop and then display an error of "DCOM server" i click OK and the PC shuts down, in normal mode it displays me a random error every time i boot (dwm.exe or explorer.exe) and then it freezes, when i perform CHKDSK the PC shuts down at stage 1 (about 10%) when scanning the C: Drive !
a WinXP CD boots and load files but it display an error (0x7b)
i booted from a fedora 18 live CD it went great until i clicked on "install fedora to hard drive" the PC shut down :/ and now it shut down it's time fedora want to start
please can you help me with that? is it the HDD failing?
forgive my poor english
thank you

Sound like hardware issue, your English is fine! If you can use a differnet computer, Go to hard drive Manufacturer's site and download any tools that run outside of windows. Most of the G73's came with Seagate hard drives > SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

thank you for helping me, i used the SeaTools and performed the short tests on both HDDs the secondary one passed but the primary failed, it told me to perform a long test, but when i wanted to do that the computer shut down by itself; i don't think it's due to overheating, could it be the PSU? or the motherboard ? because this problem has first occured when i turned the pc on with an XBOX 360 USB controller and one USB Adapter for PS1 controllers (with two PS1 controllers in it) plugged in it !! could it have damaged the mobo?

Sounds like a stuffed (broken) primary hard drive. Best thing would be to get a new hard drive, put it in primary slot, and install windows on it. Perfect opportunity to pick up a SSD and improve your experience with the g73! Personally I reckon the rest of your computer is most likely fine, it would be very odd for a low powered USB device to damage the Motherboard in some way.
The problems you are describing sound exactly like I have experienced on a failed hard drive. -
hello and thank you for your answer, i took off the primary HDD and powered the computer only with the secondary drive, when i tried to install windows on it, the computer shut down again by itself in the phase of "expanding windows files" !! should i place the secondary HDD in the primary slot and retry ?
