    Hi,

I have just did a clean install on Win8.1. I intalled only radeon drivers - nothing else.

Do i need to install anything else (like intel turbo boost that i remember installing 3 years ago), or is everything already inside win8.1?
Or any link to a similar thread would be helpful (couldnt find one)

    Thanks

You don't need anything more actually. You might want to install the Intel RST drivers if you use an SSD, but else the inbox drivers are fine (the AMD GPU you already have). Maybe you want to install the latest Realtek drivers, but I'm not sure if you will gain anything. Just be sure to configure the Bios for highest CPU clock.

    How to do that?
Is that instead of Intel Turbo drivers?

P.S. Which driver controls FN keys?

You can set turbo in the bios if you want.
And the FN keys are controlled by the ATK package divers.
Just use the drivers that Chastity has listed HERE. (post #31)
They work just fine with the G73JH and Win8.1 ...I just used them myself with a clean 8.1 install.
You can install all of those drivers listed.

I opted not to install the Power4Ghear and keyboard filter since i didnt need those.
And I then installed the latest realtek hd audio drivers from the realtek site, and the latest AMD beta drivers for my AMD 5870m.
I also installed the latest Intel RST drivers since I get slightly better performance using them with my Intel SSD.(but they aren't a "MUST", you can get by just fine without them if you want)

The AMD Catalyst™ 13.11 Beta9.2 Driver can be downloaded from the following link. (be sure and grab the mobility one) AMD Catalyst™ 13.11 Beta9.2 Driver
The Realtek HD audio driver can be downloaded here... (version R2.73).. Realtek HD Driver
And the Intel RST driver is here (the first one listed...version 12.8.0.1016 dated 8/8/2013)... Intel RST driver

And just so you can find stuff easier in the future, click on the very first sticky at the top of this forum.
When you do ,It will take you HERE.
Then look for the QUICK JUMP near the top and select G73JH and that will take you to the links for more stuff and info than you're ever gonna need for your system.

Thank you very much for all the info.
I will have a look at the links in the evening.

I am missing keyboard backlight at the moment, will I find drivers for it there too?

And didnt this laptop had problems with some audio drivers? Wont Realtek mess it up? (Or was it Creative drivers that caused lock ups, i dont remember?

    Thanks!

The ATK package drivers will enable your lights as well as the FN keys once installed.
And it is the Creative that has had issues in the past, just using the realtek drivers standalone wont cause you any problems.
If you also want the Creative console along with the realtek drivers, you'll most likely have to look for modified realtek drivers that include the Creative console.
I didn't bother because most of the modified Realtek drivers with the Creative console are old and I wanted the latest audio drivers.
But that's not to say the older modified drivers wont work with win 8.1, It just means I can only verify what I have personally used without issues.
(the G7JH has a realtek audio chipset, the Creative console is just added along with the realtek drivers.....it's not a "true" Creative audio chip if that is what you were thinking)

You can try looking HERE for a modified Realtek driver that includes the creative console.
But in all honesty, its probably not the best spot, I just linked to that doing a quick search just now.
As I said, I didnt really take any time looking that up since I didnt personally think it was worth the hassle, so if you really want the Creative console, you're probably better off doing a search on your own for that.
Or better yet, maybe someone with Win 8.1 using the Creative console will chime in and help ya out on that one. ;)

A quick update on the Creative software.
If you have the original Asus drivers and Utilities disc you can simply...
1: install the old realtek drivers from the Asus Utility disc. (reboot)
2:Then in install the Creative software from the original Asus drivers and utilities disc (reboot)
3: Download and install the latest Realtek drivers.... The drivers will install in a two step process, rebooting in between.
They will first uninstall the old driver...reboot...then install the new driver.

Now that is the easiest way of getting the Creative Console installed along with the latest Realtek drivers that I know of without having to hunt and experiment with modded drivers.
( I did test this on my G73JH with win8.1 before posting this...so it does work)
Of course if you don't have an original Asus Drivers and Utilities disc, it can be a real pain to find somewhere to download it now, all links I tested before posting this are dead.
Luckily I always kept a copy for my personal setup...I'd upload it, but its like 2.90GB.

How is it possible for us that have G73Jh to install RST driver when we do not have RAID on board??? Also how to install creative audio software if it says Install cannot continue because setup is not able to detect supported hardware on your system?

RST are the Intel SATA drivers, used for Raid but also for normal SATA ports too.
Regarding Creative, you first have to install the original drivers from the CD and then the Creative ones from the CD.
