I'll be doing some very heavy rendering work in the next weeks to come.

Rendering takes my CPU temps up to 80c, and I'm expecting that I'll be keeping them up there for upwards of 2 to 3 days of runtime.

To my knowledge, there's no way this can be healthy for the hardware, but exactly what toll would this take on the machine? If it were to just stay at a constant 80c, would internal issues arise?

I ran my XM full load at 94oC for two days straight when stress testing.

Personally if it is not running above 75oC a CPU is not worth having. They are made to last and you will not keep the laptop anywhere near the end of its life an upgrade will be needed way before that happens.

Even if it did die you just do the next best thing for the CPU - Upgrade it ;)

Nope, as long as any of the hardware doesn't approach critical temps, it should be fine. I'm quite surprised though that you would hit 80C with your CPU unless you live in a very hot place. I never went over 75C at full load on stock paste with my 720qm. Or unless you are overclocking of course.

22C is rather average man :p, i'd expect your CPU to run around 73C. 26C or more is hot.

Really? I always thought it was steaming in my room.

73c on full load? Perhaps I should repaste beforehand..

Run prime 95 for 45 mins, check the max temp, the laptop will stay at that temp for the night. Once it reaches a stable temp, it stays there.
