    Hey guys,

I'm a new member here but I have been reading through these forums for quite awhile. :) I'm looking for my 1st gaming laptop and I'm leaning towards the G73JW. I just wanted to get some info first. Which model offers the best deal? Or should I shell out the extra $300 and just get the G73JW-A1 for the extra backpack & mouse?

why is it the tiger direct version (G73JW-XT1) come with better specs compared to the other versions with almost the same price? Is there a catch?

I've been wondering the same thing, but I'm pretty sure I've pieced it together:

    G73JW-A1 - Everywhere...
    G73JW-XA1 - (A)mazon
    G73JW-XN1 - (N)ewegg
    G73JW-XT1 - (T)iger
    G73JH-BST7 - Best Buy

(note the model numbers and the names of the companies match)

I think, basically, each distributor gets to customize it's own version of the same notebook. I've been wondering since the A1 is a bit beyond my price range and I haven't been able to figure out the other ones.

Surprisingly, the XT1 model was $100 less ($1499->$1399) for a period of time (a week or two). Great deal.

I believe only the A1 and A3 models come with the 8gb memory, bag/mouse, and full 2 yr warranty

It does look like the Tiger Direct model is the best bang for the buck. I am looking at replacing my son's Gateway FX notebook, this just may do the trick :)

All the models I looked at had 8mb of ram except the Best Buy version. They all have the 2 year warranty. If it was not for the lower res screen the Best Buy one would be a get deal.

I think the Amazon Version only has a one year warranty.

Anyone seen these lower than $1,400.00 besides Best Buy?

I looked at Amazon's site, it says one year warranty.

Tiger Direct is the only seller except the A1's that has a two year warranty.

Some of the differences & prices (1/2/2011) :

G73JW-A1 - Everywhere... (many different setups and prices)
    G73JW-XA1 - (A)mazon $1,449.00
    G73JW-XN1 - (N)ewegg $1,429.99
    G73JW-XT1 - (T)iger (Only model with Blue Ray except the A1's) $1,499.99
G73JH-BST7 - Best Buy (only 6MB of Ram and 1600 x 900 res screen) The cheapest priced Model :) $1,199.99

So for $50 you get (apparently) bluray and an extra year of warranty. Maybe I'll be buying from TD instead.

Yep, it looks as of right now the Tiger Direct one is a pretty good deal. If the Best Buy one just had a better res, that would be awesome, I am used to 1920 x 1080, I wish I wasn't, I could save $300.00

Get the FHD screens, they are just better looking panels.
