    ASUS G73JW-XT1 Laptop Computer - Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz, 8GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Blu-ray Player/DVDRW, 17.3 Full HD, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Black at TigerDirect.com

I'm trying to figure out the differences between this XT1 model and the A1, and so far, all I can see is that it comes with 500 GB hard drive space. There must be something else, as its more than $200 less than the other model.

That would be ideal for me, as I only want a single drive for now (standard 7200 or XT) so I can add an SSD later.

Looks like a great deal! I'd also want to add a SSD, so 2 HD doesn't help me. Go for it!

I asked a question as to if it comes with the backpack and mouse still. That may also be part of the cost savings...

Get a model with two HDDs, even if you add a cheap 320G one. The HDD brackets are a pain to get and can be expensive.

If the old JH models are any indication, the X models do not come with a backpack or a mouse. All TD models just come with the laptop, no accessories.

Good point. Still you can get by without a bracket, until your cardboard and tape catch on fire that is

I'm ordering this one right now I think. Best bang for the buck. I guess I'll have to buy my own backpack lol.

Both the JW's show max ram as 8gb, but they have 4 slots. ?

The problem with the xa1 is that it only has a 1-year warranty. The A1 and xt1 both come with a 2-year. Did you notice that before you bought it?

Amazon has a SquareTrade 3-Year Warranty, but i don't know how goo that is or have any experience with SquareTrade. It also costs $160, making it $110 more expensive than the XT1 at that point.

Has anyone heard how their warranties are?

Good point. I really hate how there are so many different models that it's next to impossible to get them all straight! I'm not too worried, though - the G73JW runs so cool I doubt I'll have heating issues. Plus this is the wife's computer, so she won't be overclocking, and barely uses it (maybe a couple times a week). Guess we'll just have to see how things play out.

For me, Amazon is no tax/free shipping. Tax for me would've been around $105. Add in shipping, and there's the price difference.

Squaretrade is a great company for warranties. I have only made one claim with Squaretrade but I had a check for my purchase price in 4 days. The only thing is that Squaretrade starts when you buy the warranty and works along with the Asus warranty as opposed to starting after the Asus warranty starts. Squaretrade will also deal with Asus for you if you have to make a claim. It also gives you a second claim if needed. Squaretrade also has accidental warranty for a year but at a steep price. Wow, it almost sounded like I work for them lol.

Use code AUTUMN for $30 off if you get a warranty for your laptop. It should be good for at least a few more days.

I bought the XT1 about 2 weeks ago and I am still looking for another bracket for it.
