Ok so Its a G73SW BESTBUY version. The computer was over heading and video was going out. They tried to repaste but didn't know how to get to the GPU .

The computer came to me and I idiotically went by the original owners story and installed a new GPU and did a complete repaste.

What the unit is doing now is when powered the keyboard comes lights up so does the ,power and the different modes buttons. Also the front indicator leds turn on the the unit does charge the battery. What it doesnt do is turn the screen on nor the lower blue light bar under the screen. When I turn it on i dont hear any sounds except those of the fans running and the cpu and the gpu heatsink get warm but not like burning warm.

I have tried to run it with no ram and no HDD ,also did the CMOS battery reset and nothing changed .

The unit also turns off right away when the power button is pushed so I dont think its booting. However if i remove the ram and hit the power button the i need to keep pressing the power button like 10 seconds for it to turn off.

How could i find out whats wrong with it ?could it be the Motherboard or the screen flex ? I've tried connecting external screens and nothing is happening.I would really appreciate any input.

I bought a G73JH with similar problems... I replaced GPU, LCD, video cable, new RAM, and CMOS battery and it booted and displayed on the LCD, but then shutdown. I was working on it today, reseated the GPU CPU, and tried with old graphics card, now it has no display, so I am back where I started.

my GPU heats up(like yours) but no video on the LCD or external. I will let you know if I come up with anything.

Ram needs to be in slots 1 and/or 3 in order for it to post. slots 1 and 3 are excess able from the bottom(near HD) and marked on mobo "1" "3" "4".

    Heres my thread:
