There seems to be a lot of different opinions of the quality of this screen, but only few facts. Does anyone know what is the make and model of the 1600x900 screen in G73sw? (Is it the same one as in G73jh?)

And if you have it and want to comment on the quality, please feel free to do so. :)

(and if someone is wondering why not go for the fullhd, the answer is simple: it's too tiny for my usage and windows & programs are crappy at scaling anything...)

I believe is can be an AUO or an LG to simply find this out run HWINFO and go into the display tab and it will confirm what you have. I have an AUO. Opinions on the screen are going to vary of course but from what I have read people belive the LG is better however the AUO 1080p from 900P screen is a big improvement.

I am using the 1600x900 and because it will prolong my performance with the native resolution not being 1080p im refraining from upgrading.

Let me rephrase, struggling to refrain myself from upgrading to the lovely 1080p screen :D

I have a the G73SW with a 1600x900 AUO. pretty decent i guess. certainly beats the hell out of my 2008 model HP DV7 display.

I've actually been pretty impressed with most of the stock screens from ASUS. They aren't the best screens available on the market, but for stock screens I can't complain too much. Most of the 1600 x 900 versions I have seen were AUO, but I know that can vary a bit.

The ones I've seen in Best Buy are griddy, but they're a bit better than the 15.6" Samsung 1366x768 screen in the DV6 I saw there (which wasn't as griddy, but had terrible contrast).

I agree the screens do the job nicely I have never really been fussed about a screen as long as its clear bright and colourful and I dont need 1080p personally before I had 1440x900 so 1600x900 is still an upgrade for me.

The only thing that is slightly annoying is the glare but I understand that has its own benefits and I dont understand why people are unhappy with the screen from a 90o angle, I plan to sit in front of my laptop when I use it.
