I got it Saturday, it's great.
Playing AION on it, and everything.
I am having one small issue though.. My screen, idk if it's the internal screen or the system doing it, but it's flickering and I'm not sure why.
It doesn't do it while I'm in a game.

Did it come with the second hard drive tray already, or do we need to get it from Asus, I'm seriously considering this as my next laptop. Also what is the warrenty, from what I hear, it does not have the 1 year accidental, however the older G73jw-xr1 does have accidental.
Enjoy your new lappy, I hope to be joining the ranks soon lol

I just need to downgrade my driver(because i'm guessing it happened when i installed the newest driver for the gfx card). I haven't seen just a tad bit of lag with it though. Weird, aye? Why make a "bad" driver?
@Ir0n: this is a great laptop, astonishing. I'm trying to find out about the second HDD bay. It comes with like a year of accidental, and upgrading the warranty is $250 -
If you don't have it and want one, I have 5 left. (see sig)
Cheers, -
fyi, microcenter has the xr1 listed on their website as in stock. (I think this is one of the retailers that doesn't allow the accidental damage warranty).

I just got one of these on Saturday as well and I am loving it.
I did do a fresh install of Windows 7 on a Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Hybrid drive.
This laptop is actually faster than my i7 desktop. THis does not upset m. I may do all my gaming on this machine.
I did try to update my video driver to the newest from Nvidia, but I ended up with the flicker. After reading this post, I rolled the drivers back and no more flicker. -
Regarding the screen flickering, I'm using drivers 266.01 atm and they are ok. No differences between 259, so if you want you can try these aswell.

I checked out one of these at Microcenter last night... I thought they had fixed the whole keyboard issue with these?
I was able to outtype it quite easily, maybe one word in ten would miss a letter. Now granted I type around 90-100wpm but I haven't had any problems with computers not nearly as powerful as the g73 series.
I spent about 20 minutes in wordpad and notepad (just in case it was the app for some stupid reason) typing out the same block of text a few times and it kept dropping keys, not always the same ones just every so often it would skip letters.
I was all set to get one of these but cant have that, I program for a living and typos are a productivity killer. -
If you need to use it, disable the touchpad in the bios, that'll fix it. -

Any benchmark scores? I seriously considering this model of the G73. Will be playing lots of games.

Score:
P1813
3DMarks
Looking at all the other G73s with the same CPU and GPU the top scores are 1851, 1829, and 1818. I'll work on some tweaking to see if I can get more out of it
The computer doesn't come with the 2nd caddy, I currently have the SSD bracketed and the 640 just resting for now. Working on getting a HP Pavilion ZD7000 HD Caddy that works on our laptops.
Has anyone be able to figure out how to keep this thing running faster than 2.0 stock? I see it peaks to 2.86 or so... just wanna see if we can force it higher at will. -
How is the battery life? I hear that with the new i7 processor that battery life is dramatically improved. I am just waiting on the taxes to pull the trigger on this one. Any thing I should know before ordering online from Micro Center? What is the warranty? Thanks for your help in advance.
