Since I've bought this laptop I've had the power chord battery blow out on me 3x already. Then one time, the computer wouldn't turn on no matter what I did so I sent it back to Asus and they said the fan on the laptop had died and had to be replaced. So it seems the laptops fan has bad design and doesn't keep the system cool, leading to overheating issues?

Currently, my computer seems to be slowing to a crawl and I feel like it's having overheating issues again and will die on me soon so I already backed up my files. Also seems like a sign because I have the laptop plugged in but it's not charging. Here we go again? I downloaded real temp online and it seems to say the temp is fine though unless I'm misusing the program -- I simply downloaded it, ran it, and read the temp as 53 degrees.

use hwinfo64. What are your temps? Asus laptops have one of the best cooling systems around. Especially the g73/g74.

As Falcon says use HWINFO to check each section of the CPU and GPU it sounds like GPU overheating to be honest and I would bet they didnt bother repasting it when changing the fan.

A busted fan is uncommon but not unheard of and will lead to severe overheating if stressed. Damage could have been done from the temperature depending how long it was not working for although you would expect them to check this before returning it you, I repeat you would expect this sadly thats not always the case.

I thought I'd mentioned about a probable bad repasting job. Seems like I haven't. Like Dallers mentioned, they probably did a poor repasting job.

    Hey guys, a couple questions...

I downloaded HWINFO to check the CPU and GPU temps but can't find where it's listed. This is everything in the CPU portion listed:

Where else should I be looking?

Also, if it's a bad repaste job is this something I would be able to fix myself or would I probably want to send it back to Asus and wait another 1-2 weeks to get it back?

anyone? fwiw after a few days of having to plug the charger into the laptop at a certain angle just to get it to charge, it just finally stopped charging altogether and the computer battery died of course. so I am having to send it back to ASUS for the 3rd time for what appears to be the same issue. this is making me regret having bought this computer and not just buying a macbook :/ anything I should inform them of so that this doesnt continue happening?

The power pin in your laptop probably broke. This is one laptop you have to be careful with when it's plugged in. I become paranoid when anyone goes near my laptop when it's plugged in cuz i can't afford to have a broken pin.
The temps can be seen after you click the sensors tab on top and run it.
