I can't hear any sound coming out of external speakers. I plugged them in to one of the jacks, and Windows recognizes that I did this, but I don't see the speakers pop up in the device list and no sound comes out.

    Help!

What happens if you plug earphones or another set of speakers to the same output jack?

    I found something else.

    The jacks don't work.

Is there some driver I need to download or option I need to enable?

It should work out of box without any specialized drivers. If you replug your speakers, windows should acknowledge at the bottom right "You have plugged a device into the audio jack." If you do no get this prompt, it may mean the audio jack is the problem.

If you've done a reinstall, your HD audio drivers might be interfering, check your sound panel.

Yes, I get that message, freelancer604.

Edit: I turned the playback devices on and off a few times, and one of the jacks now works!!! I assume the other one isn't supposed to work??? :\

The other jack is for a microphone.
