Hey guys, anyone have this computer and play Battlefield 3? I'm curious how well it will play before I go out and buy it. It's on sale for 50% right now on Origin but I don't wanna buy it and then run it like crap.

I have the 192 bit 560m and all that jazz. Thanks guys.

Its a great game and I have not seen any of the problems with Origin that most have personally although I waited till last month to buy it.

A patch is still very much required but still the 64 player online Metro map is well worth a good bang. The 192bit card should handle it fine and comparing it to my 6990M you should be able to run it at at high with AA off 1080p comfortably online.

I run it with a G73 5870M and it is playable so a 560 should be a little
    bit better.

By default it wants to config my machine with many settings high but
fps is too bad for me.

Have to turn alot of things off/down to get decent fps (30-50).

Thing is even with settings lower graphics still look incredible.

I am however going to get a new machine to crank this game up as
soon as the new stuff is available.

You sure can play on G74, even if it's far from perfect.

To be honest, you can play on high with playable FPS, and on low with enjoyable FPS ( trying to reach 60 all the time , near from it )

BTW , Back to Krakand is also -50% , i advice you to take it with the game !

Anyway, without performance talking, it's been a WHILE since i last spend so much time on a multiplayer FPS without getting bored , that game is really great.

Same here , medium setting , no AA and no SSAO / HBAO , and high resolution , consol commands to improve = fluent gaming.

Go for it , this game is great ! ( but needs to get used to it , it's not that kind of COD with instant fun )

The game should run pretty well. I found that overclocking the gpu to 880core speed helped a ton. If you plan on playing 1080p, I suggest turning off AA deferred and relying purely on AA post, which has no performance impact. Also the higher ambient occlusion setting is a big performance killer. SSAO works well and doesnt make your game run like crap. Particle effects can slow you down sometimes, when a tank shoots a building. The rest of the settings dont really affect performance and can be turned to max.

If you overclock a bit, the game should maintain a 30+fps no matter how many players are present. Caspian border, with all its trees seemed relatively laggy and dips into 20s frequently for me on my settings, but the games really playable in general.

    QFT.

That's why you have way lower FPS on B2K maps , where destruction is way more possible

Hmm, I'm confused. According to people reviewing the laptop on Newegg, it runs BF3 and Skyrim on Ultra without breaking a sweat. These people full of it or is this specific model somehow faster?

Really depends on the fps people are comfortable with, i can't play it in ultra with my G74sx, i like 70+ constant FPS.

I play in full res(1920x1080) all in low with 4xaf and postaa, i'm mostly in the 75+ fps, good enough for me.

Edit: forgot to say i use nvidia control panel overclocking add on to automaticaly overclock to 900Mhz core and 1400Mhz memory when bf3.exe is loaded and return to default clock when bf3.exe closes.

You'll read everywhere on forums and website that this laptop can handle the game on Ultra / high. That's true , if you like to play with @ 30 FPS , wich is unbarable for most people.

I REALLY don't feel confortable with a game when it's under 50 FPS. Sure , it's playable , but i'm sure people that plays the game on high / ultra @ 30FPS do not make several pentakill in a round ;) Just try to frag , jump back , crouch , check the roof , check your back , frag again , 180° and frag again , at 30FPS , that kind of action is completely unaccruate.

I'm not some kind of " pro gamer " or such , but nobody can say that it's accurate to play at 30 frame / sec ... It's good enough for single player scripted campaign , not to play against real people with a bit of skill.
