    Hi.

    I just bought a G74SX.

The laptop is fine but my fan seems to spin too fast in "idle" or very low usage (the noise is just a little bit less loud than when in full charge) while the temp are very low (easily under 40°c in several monitoring softwares, the air coming out actually feels "cold").

Is there a way to monitor the fan speed with a software so i can see the RPM or the % of the fan speed ?

What should i expect the fan speed to be when idling at very low temperature ?

I love this laptop but the fan is driving me crazy... :(

    Thx

    Thanks for your answer Lidowxx.

I already have this installed but i cannot see the fan speed anywhere, the only fan speed i see is the gpu fan speed wich odly shows 100%.

Speedfan 4.45 reading is 2180rpm for the cpu fan with temps largely below 40°c.

I noticed something strange, when i start the computer, during the booting process i can ear the fans but they turn very slowly and make very little noise, but as soon as the windows desktop loads the fan start to turn much faster althought i have the processor fan set to "passive" in the power settings (not sure that's the term in an english version of windows) and the max processor speed set at 30%, the stupid fan loudly blows cold air out of the G74, that is so frustrating...

The question i have is , is this the way the G74 works or is there something wrong with mine ?

my CPU fan is currently at 2610rpm with temps around 40-50 on my G74.

I wouldn't call it loud though. Until you pointed it out I was hardly aware of the noise. I'm in High Performance mode.
