    Hi,

Last year I bought a variation of the G73JH from microcenter but had 2 PSOD's within 6 weeks of use, and eventually just returned it as I didn't want to deal with one RMA after another. I'd heard it had many other issues on top of simply constant PSOD's.

My question is whether ASUS has learned from their mistakes in the production of the G73JH and whether or not the G74SX is more reliable in every sense other than simply better hardware and specs.

    Thanks.

The PSOD is caused when the panel controller goes, and can be instigated by the motherboard, and sometimes the video card. Unfortunately this can be an issue with mass-produced electronics, as variance in component quality can be hard to detect. Sorry that you had a bad experience.

So while I read a lot of threads on this I got a bit of confusing information so I want to make sure I have this right. The G74 BB model has a gimped video card and a lower resolution screen?

So at $1099 it is still the cheapest option and the next is the G74XT1 from Tiger direct that suffers non of the disadvantages of the BB version for $300 more?

What about wifi cards in each model? Are either one of them an upgraded version like an Intel 6230 and could they be upgraded to them?

The tiger direct G73 XT1, its only disadvantage is the that is has the 460 instead of the 560 video card?

Sorry for the all questions searching this forum while a great wealth of information is all a great wealth of incorrect information.

For the XN1 its not a disadvantage.
its better to have that then a crippled card.
Although dont get it twisted, while crippled its still good.
If you must have the newest stuff then get the 560 it wont be that bad especially since the screen is only 900p
As for the the wifi card, Yes every laptop ive ever seen can have it upgraded so i doubt it would change on a asus

    You mean the XT1?

This is what I'm looking at

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7124324&CatId=4935

It seems like the best deal and I assume that I can play Star Wars the Old Republic, Space Marine, Witcher 2, Dues Ex, etc at medium to high settings? I probably won't plan on OC the card since I don't have a clue how to do it and don't want to damage anything.
