Hello, I come to comment on the following problem with explorer.exe crashes randomly, and I uninstalled the Asus WebStorage, but still crashes (windows explorer stopped working you .....) and I have to restart explorer, but not seen any report of what is wrong.
    this is very annoying.

I've also noticed that after running some games (Fallout, Deus-Ex, the Withcher 2), leaving the same load explorer.exe cpu is 10%, and remained so until reboot.
The turbo boost is working at 2.6 GHz. if no load programs.
This mode in the configuration of high performance and entertainment.
In office mode low frequency of 800 Hz but cpu load explorer.exe
10% without doing any work, continues.

I tried disabling the service and all the applications that start at boot the computer, but still with that problem, I would like to know why the explorer.exe is using 10% CPU doing nothing.

I have also run Malwarebytes in case but nothing came.

I hope I can help, thanks

Just for the sake of it run a full memtest86+ session. So you can rule out RAM. If the RAMs are ok, try removing the creative audio suit. If it still persists a clean install maybe the only option.

Thanks guys, I have restored the operating system image from the factory, but the problem persists.

Will review the report and the tips I got to see what happens and leave the clean install as a last option.

If it still isnt working, i would recommend backing up everything you can(pics music steam games) and do a complete re install of windows, Not a system restore

Trend is an evil application. If I get a voice, Asus will ship with new AV.

That "web storage" program, whatever that is, sounds like it might cause problems like that too...but yeah, I just run MSE. No problems so far on my G74 (which I did a clean install on).

Asus causes us not to use the computer by installing bloatware, thanks to Microsoft, Windows is a fragile operating system (most than ever before), i got lots of explorer.exe crashes related to explorerframe.dll (or sth like that). Removing some bloats (especially shell extensions) reduced it, now i'm facing a very very strange problem, on some logons if i don't wait much to enter my password on logon screen, i got black screen, after a hard-reset, it comes back.

I'm nearly sure, Asus is surviving to make me (at least me) not to use computer by creating a big difficulty about distinguishing hardware errors and software problems.

You can't be %100 sure without clean install if it's a software problem, shortly.

How is Windows a "fragile" operating system? I've literally never had a serious software issue with Windows NT.

My G74 seemed fine as shipped from the factory-looked like you could just remove stuff you didn't want. But yeah, I prefer a clean install.

Then you're the lucky one, or search Google about various Windows crashes and see how many entries it returns. [Don't let me start talking about security issues huh :)] That's why a lot of forums exist about Windows support. But again, don't get me wrong, if Asus didn't install their bloatware as factory-default, the problems would be determined too quickly and perhaps the solutions would be more solid than guessing the reason(s).

I'd prefer to do clean install, too, however, you should uninstall GamePark console before talking early (of course don't do it if you want your Windows stay alive) which destroys your OS, look at msconfig and see how many useless entry is listed, even they don't have a documentation (thanks notebookreview for containing bloatware guide though).

The worst thing i feel is wasting excellent (nearly) hardware with stupid OS crashes whose reasons are almost related to bugs/absence of silly hotfixes. Note: I also have SP1!.

Security issues are inevitable-at least Microsoft takes them pretty seriously versus Apple.

And nope, even working in the field, I can't recall anything with NT ever really going wrong. Not that didn't require serious user error, like turning off Windows Update, or maliciously wrecking something.

Maybe I have dealt with something, but I've been using NT daily since version 4, and honestly can't remember anything.

Huh :) Chrome was a disaster, here you read what i discovered:

Google Chrome/Google Updater uninstallation is awful... - Google Chrome Help

It's such a browser that puts things into Task Scheduler + registry entries which are unknown.

Yikes. I had no idea Chrome could be an issue. I like Firefox better, and I'd prefer to support open source software where possible on top of that...but I had no idea Chrome mucked around so much. (Other than the updater, which I don't want running all the time-I'm happy with Firefox just checking itself when you launch it-no reason it should be running all the time!)

I had Chrome on my last system just to test stuff, but no way am I putting it on my G74!
