G74SX-BBK7 and ASUS G53SW-A1 both cost $1.400 at Hidevolution. I heard the BBK model of G74 had less gpu power than other G74 models, but how will it compare to a G53Sw with a 460m? I do not want to spend that much over $1.400 for a laptop, so those 2 both look appealing.
I saw other G74 models cost $1750 and up, even more expensive than a M17X r3, crazy :S
    Any help is appriciated! :)

where do you see it being expensive than an AW?
If an alienware do cost less, it is because it give less...

no 12 gb ram, no dual drive (not even 500gb, just 320), and more than often no FHD screen...

Better warranty? yeah, for one year maybe, than you need to extend it and it cost lots

So, do not get tricked because of the price tag...

(PS, this does not mean that AW are bad, just do not tell me that DELL is now cheaper than asus...)

    Going Back on your decision...

    I would likely get the G53, I prefer a standard 460 to a gimped 560...

Stay away from the gimped GPU's. 1/3 lost bandwidth is a disaster for a mobile card with 3D and 1080P resolution.

G73/53 may not win the battle against the G74 but it will win the war.

Price vs performance. G73/53 wins because the extra SSD you can drop in from the price saved against a minor graphical increase, pick up a cheap G73 you could probably afford a better CPU too. If you just want a newer model and newer/extra features + newer GPU and dont care bout price go G74.

    Thanks for all answers :)
Looking at the G74 at hidevolution with 12gb ram and blu ray drive etc I don't really need any of that and it also costs $1750. I also found G73jh for $950 on ebay and G53Sw for $1050

    Does it look OK?

Hidevolution has G53SW for $1400, but the one on ebay is 300 bucks cheaper. But looks like same graphics card and prosessor on both. Is the FHD or WUXGA screen any good?

I think G53SW might be the laptop for me, since the G73jh has outdated CPU.
