Hi! the G74s is awesome! the only thing is the webcam never show up, there is no option in the BIOS setting, and no program can find a cam, in 'ASUS virtual camera', the cam list is gray out, and in the lifeframe, it pops out a message that: the camera is used by other program. The ASUS support does not answer this question... I guess the manufacture person forgot to plug in the wire of the webcam...... :(

I do update all the latest drivers and software, still nothing can be found by Win7... It looks like you buy a new car, everything is good, only the radio doesn't work......

If you open device manager - Imaging Devices - do you have any entries there?

there is no such item......
Even in the BIOS setting, 'usb-enable' tab, there is nothing for 'on board cam' or anything......

You may have the answer in your first post, if it never worked since you purchased it it may be faulty or simply not plugged in. Are you comfortable taking the machine apart to verify?

I am having similar problems. g3jh I was rebuilding a clean install
I had a camera, then after trying to use it. and adding virtual camera, I got a camera driver yellow triangle in devices. After some disabling and enable it came up in other" devices. Rebooting seems to have it back a Imaging devices but something wont let it now take the correct driver.

When it had a driver lifeframe was reporting inuse.

Is there some correct order of event to get all the software and drivers loaded for the camera?

For the G73, i had to disable UAC completely and then install the correct drivers for the webcam. Otherwise, i got an error saying the drivers couldn't be installed. You need to get the driver from Asus' website for the G73 webcam.

In the G74, windows should detect the webcam correctly. As JOSEA said, if you do not have an imaging or unknown device appearing in the device manager in windows, then there is something wrong with the cam itself.

I would suggest you call for an RMA to have the camera checked

    888-678-3688

Use the Case number when you call
