Hey all,
Just picked up a new G74SX-TH71. Every retailers web page says it should have 1920x1080 screen resolution. I called Asus and they confirmed that it should be 1920x1080. For some reason the maximum resolution on the notebook is 1600x900. I'm savvy enough with this kind of stuff to be pretty sure I'm not missing anything here and I actually bought two of these notebooks and they both check out the same way. Anyone else out there have one of these yet ? If so am I just crazy or did they make a bad batch or something ?

Easiest way to check is to run hwinfo and going into the monitor section to see exactly what monitor you have and then you can check to see if they put the wrong one in your model. Your model does have the 1080p as long as its that code.
If you want me to find out for you just post the monitor name and serial number. -
Heres a copy of the monitor results when I run HWINFO.

Quote: The screen (Samsung LTN173KT01000) has a resolution of 1600x900 pixels ( WXGA++; 16:9)
That is not a 1080P screen you need to return it im afraid buddy the G74SX-BBK7 comes with that screen are you sure its a TH71?
If it is a BBK7 you also have the gimped 560M GTX so check how much VRAM is listed against the GPU. -
If you have the 192bits 560 , you can even be lucky to have that screen ... I mean , i have the 1920*1080 , and every single lower resolution is blurry as hell , making them unable to use. A shame , cause perf at 1600*900 are WAY better ... and are still beautiful ( on an external screen ... )
If your screen is not blurry at all at 1600*900 , keep it x) -
The 1080p model is a lot better visually. -
G74SX-TH71 is printed on the bottom of the laptop and the box it came in.

Get in contact with them ASAP and find out what they are going to do about it.
Personally I would demand a hand delivered replacement by 4 of the F1 Grand Prix grid girls in only bikini's with a pint of extra cool San Miguel sitting on top of it. But I am British -
According to a post here Asus makes two TH71 models; one with HD+ and one with full hd.
In this case plus is less ... I think. -

Thanks for the help guys, I guess i'll be taking both of mine back today and trading them in for G74SX-XT1's. CPU is a little lower but i really want a 1920x1080 lcd.
