I recently purchased two G75 notebooks pre-loaded with Windows 8. Both exhibit the same problem:
Using the Synaptics Touchpad, I cannot move or resize any desktop window for Microsoft products (Windows Explorer, IE 10, MS Office, etc). I can resize windows from other software (Adobe Photoshop, etc.)
Using a Logitech mouse, there is no problem with resizing or moving windows on the desktop.

    I've contacted Asus support.
Response was to remove and reinstall the current driver - no joy.
Remove and install an updated driver - The new driver won't install - "No Synaptics Touchpad detected."
Remove and reinstall the current driver, then go into the BIOS and reset to factory defaults. Neither computer has been changed.
Restore the Windows software to factory default. - I have 8 hours invested in setting up software on one computer, the other is fresh out of the box with the initial Windows setup completed and no software installed.

Additionally, I recommended one of these G75's to a friend. We checked and he has the same problem with his, straight out of the box.

And finally, today I had to go back to the store where these were purchased. I tried to resize/move a window on the demo G75 and it doesn't work there either.

Has anybody run into this problem and is there a solution that Asus doesn't know about?

I'm a bit upset that Asus expects me to do their troubleshooting for them. If it was one unit, I could see it being some software I installed, but two virgin laptops straight out of the box - They have a problem they need to invest some resources to solve.
