I can check that by comparing to my original cell with a multimeter set to volts right? Then it has to show positive values when checked the same way. Right?
Thanks. Will do that tonight.

First thing I would do is take apart the stock one and see whats in there. The battery model should be engraved right onto it. You will also see how they have things connected. Then you'll see what it all involves and if you'll be able to replace it yourself. -
I took out my cell. Didnt unwrap it yet. Its giving me a voltage of 3.10V and it is a CR2032W. Is my original fine or I should change it?
I was tinkering with the cell. Removed it. Checked the voltage. Put it back. Checked the voltage in place again. Then the screen works. I don't get it. Whenever I open this laptop and play with it the screen works. Right now it's working fine after a couple of no hard disk reboots. I will try rebooting with windows a couple of times and see.
The currect situation is as such:
*The screen seems to work,
*The time is getting reset. Probably indicating the cell is weak.
But I am really happy that the screen is working. Atleast for now. I will use the laptop for today and see how long the screen keeps working. It never shuts while working. It's just when I reboot sometimes and it doesn't work. In the evening, I will replace the CMOS battery with a new one. Then let's see what happens.
Another thing: When can I post directly on these forums without my post being read and approved before becoming visible? -

The voltage is fine. CR2032/W is a 3V battery. -
Then what do you recommend to check? Right now the date is not showing up correctly. I can check whatever you want me too.
-
Guys? Something to understand the issue?

There may be something wrong with the system clock circuitry at this point.
-
Anything I can do to confirm and/or repair it?
-

In this case, if you really want to verify it then you can try another battery.
Some batteries can drop voltage dramatically if they are under load so the 3 volts that you had could be deceiving to you.
But if the problem persists with another battery, then you will have to replace your main logic board. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Just be careful if you measure voltages on a cold cathode power setup by the way, the voltage is ramped up pretty high.
-
I highly suspect it's the connector that connects the cell to the board that is the issue. Will check more thoroughly.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You could use a multimeter to check the connector as you move the battery.
-
Thanks for your input. Meaker. I tried doing that. The connector is fine. After days of perfect usage, I have run into the issue again. It's like I am going in circles. I have no idea what to try now.
-
When I wake the laptop from sleep, the internal screen flashes white. I guess that may help.

It sounds to me like a dodgy contact somewhere that is expanding/contracting then and it's just down to the conditions of the day.

Is there a way to check the screen cable? I checked the connector at the motherboard. It seems fine. The wires to the connector also seem to be intact. As I said before, I couldn't take out the cable from the LCD so couldn't check there. What's the right way to check the cable without damaging it?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
The wires on a LVDS cable are very tiny and weak.
Try reseating the cable first on both ends and see if it helps. -

I suppose to be totally sure you could measure the resistance of each wire at each end, but it would be a fiddly process.

I am very sorry for not updating this soon. Was busy with my exams. Final year. The screen just magically started working. I have no idea how. But thank God it works fine now. I have one more issue with this laptop. The keyboard lights do not work. Not even flash on boot. I guess I will have to search the forums for this. If it's okay can you guys guide me here? I have ATK installed but still I see nothing on my screen when I try to turn the kb lights on. I can play with volume, brightness, etc. But no kb lights. Do I need to flash that kb fix for the older model that is on the internet? Because I couldn't find anything specific for this.

Have you double checked the cable (it's separate to the data cable).
-
I have. It is suppose to be with the contacts facing down on the MB or up? Cause I placed it in placed down on the MB. And it's never secured so tightly. It tends to slide out easily.
-

Try the cable the other way.
-
I did. But no luck.
Is there a way to fix this cable? Or kb replacement the only way to go?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
A replacement would be it if you are sure it's a keyboard issue.
-
No luck on that then. *sigh* Can PowerNotebooks provide spare parts and ship them to Pakistan or Dubai?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
We don't really do parts unless repairing a machine in house.
Try contacting asus or your original reseller. -
Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it.

Not a problem, hope you get it sorted, if you need anything else just drop a post.
