I'm trying to install some stuff on my brand new, one week old computer, using the provided CD.
It is simply impossible. The unit is one piece of crap occupying space for nothing. I've ordered a hdd-caddy.

Question: do I need to expect much lower speeds using the optical unit sata connector? The caddy will accommodate the standard Seagate 750GB SSH hard drive. Any knowledge on this?

    Thank you.

You wont see any difference with a hybrid drive in the optical bay vs hard drive bay. Its at least a SATA II connection.

With the Hybrid hard drives you only will get the benefit of the SSD portion if its your OS drive, if using it as a storage drive the SSD portion wont be used. You might as well save a few bucks and get a regular 7200RPM Hard drive.

Yes I know all about SSH. Its good to be 5400rpm. This way its quiet.

Sounds good, and since you have a SSD already as your main drive you really shouldnt see any performance hit, just slower because of the 5400RPM and not from being in the optical bay.

Everything is good, speed from the optical bay sata connector is the same as the other ones.
I've also got rid of the intermittent optical drive check, where the read/write arm would be moved back and forth for a split second. Annoying.

Hmz my optical drive sounds like an old floppy drive when it starts up and I don't get random checks.
