After weeks of waiting, I will finally have it tomorrow. I ordered the 90% gamut glossy screen upgrade from XoticPC, so I hope the wait is worth it. Anyways, I recently bought a 1Tb 7200rpm HDD (well, two of them) that I am using in my G73JW-A1, running Win 7. I have my Steam library and some videos/pics stored on it. Here we go with the questions:

    1. G750JH is running Win 8. Can I just swap the 1Tb drive from my old one (Win 7) to the new one with no problems? I ordered the JH without a secondary drive because I have this 1Tb drive ready to go. I will put the old 500Gb drive back into the JW.

    2. G750JH has the two 128Gb SSDs in RAID 0. How do I handle installing programs? Does every program that isn't the OS go on the other drive? Anything I should install on the SSD? Steam? This is my first computer with an SSD.

    C. Is it worth the hassle of doing a clean install? From what I understand, these do not come with a recovery disc, so I would have to make one. I'm pretty amateur at the software stuff, but like to learn as long as I have good instructions. How much crapware does Asus load onto these high-end machines?

    4. Cats or dogs... which are better?

    5. What's the best way to prep my JW for sale and what can I expect to get from it? I upgraded the primary drive to a 1Tb hybrid and upped the RAM to 16Gb. The innards are pretty clean, too.

    6. Any "must do" actions upon receiving the JH?

    7. Why is Dark Souls such a good game? Love it!

    8. Saw a pic somewhere of the Assassin's Creed logo/sticker thing on the palmrest of one of these. Do all of these that come with the game bundled have that? Is it easily removable?

Thanks for reading this far and extra-thanks if you answered any of these questions.

    1. If it's going to used as a data drive then you shouldn't have any issues.
    2. 2x SATA SSDs is your C drive, therefore all programs will be installed onto C as default destination unless otherwise specified through custom install.
    3. You can try to remove the unwanted software from Uninstall a program. You should also make a copy of original Recovery DVDs, just in case if you do regret while trying to do a clean install.
    4. Both
    5. Put it on eBay and let market tells you the cost.
    6. Recovery DVDs first.
    7. ...
    8. You can just tear it off and then use alcohol/WD40 to wipe out the remaining adhesive.

    Thanks. Need amplifying info on:

    2. Are there any programs I should install on the SSD, or just put everything on the other drive?

    5. If I don't have the install disc, how do I go about wiping the computer and doing a fresh install?

    1. I have most of my important programs on my SSD C: drive. I put programs that don't benefit for the faster load times and seldom used programs on my D: drive My C: drive has about 70% free space.
    2. Use Asus Backtracker to create a factory shipped restore USB Media.
Clean Install guide These were written for the G75 G55 but apply just the same to your G750. If you don't like these guides Google it there are multiple Guides out there for the looking. Here is another one for Clean Install of Win 8.1 Good luck and have fun with your new NB

LOL. Well test test test before you do any thing else. insure your CPU GPU have good pasting(Low Temps under full loads). Insure your WIFI is working and staying connected. Make sure all your hardware is working correctly, before you start changing things. I know its a pain but its a worse pain trying to troubleshoot software issues when it could be a hardware issue. Insure yourself that all your hardware is working good. Check your screen for dead pixels or any other defect. Check it with a solid White screen and solid Black screen you'll see any defects. Also register and log in to the ROG Forums you will find lots of information on your NB there in the G750 also check out the G75 G55 G46 forum also most of the information there pertains also to your NB

It's here and it's sweet! I love the keyboard and touchpad... a massive improvement over the G73.

All sound advice there. I ordered from XoticPC and they do a 24-hour burn-in, some benchmarking, and give everything a thorough examination before selling. I had one dead pixel when I started up, but it went away after a few seconds.

I'm doing the clean install now. I should have done some downloading beforehand to speed this process up, lol.

Yea well check us out on the ROG forums I gave you a link earlier. Surprise you didn't have Xtopic send it with a clean install? My next NB will come from them or one of the other custom builders for sure.

    2. You meant the drivers?
    a. RAID driver is priority, it needs to be installed through USB 2.0 port with an USB flash drive.
    b. Once you are at desktop, install chipset, and other good stuff.
    5. If you do not have install disc then you can't do a clean install, therefore you can only remove unwanted applications under Control Panel instead.

The SSD should be used for programs you use often.
