Hello, I am the owner of a defective G750JW. When the computer is turned on, the computer does not boot; the display itself does not turn on. In addition, the optical drive does not eject and the only lights that come on are the power and num lights. I've been doing some research and it seems like the black screen issue is quite common with these laptops.

Anywho, anyone have any ideas on what the issue is?

Thanks in advance for any help.

From what I would guess it is most likely a bad motherboard.

If the lights remain on and it does not cut off I would say dead motherboard.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Darn, it's disappointing to see that a system a little over 1 years old has developed a problem with the motherboard.

It seems that I am not the only one that has experienced this issue either; Google shows many G750s with similar symptoms.

Anyway, I've spoken to Asus and one rep said that I would be covered under warranty repair and another said that my warranty expired 5 months ago. Based on Asus' reputation for poor customer service (0.8/10 on RR), I'm going to have to say that I'm SOL. Regardless, I'll be sending it in and seeing what they're able to do.

Hopefully they will do something to help you out.

I will say that almost every single Asus gaming laptop that I purchase for parts has a bad motherboard, I can't think of one that I have bought that has had any other issue.

If they will not help you out, these laptops for parts go for a lot of money on eBay, though you might be able to find a motherboard as well possibly.

Although the initial representative I contacted said that I would be covered under warranty, the 2nd and 3rd reps that I've spoken to have claimed that I need to send in my invoice which I no longer have. Anyway, looks like Asus and Razer are the same in terms of customer service; both crap!

Hello Stock. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Same laptop, same symptoms, same problem. I've had it for only a year and three months too as of last week too which is disappointing.

I've taken it to two computer repair technicians, both of which have said it's a motherboard issue. Apparently my graphics card went as well according to the latest tech I went to, but I'm hoping that isn't the case. I'm going to get a third opinion from an Asus "expert" in my city, and if he tells me the same thing I'm going to send it to Asus.

Asus gave me an estimate of 130 dollars for parts and labour but I don't want to send it all the way there and have them raise the price on me to 1k like the local technicians I've went to have offered. That's a last resort for me, but if you decide to send it let me know if they raise the price on you or not!

Cheers and hang in there :(

If its 1k (USD I assume), just buy a new laptop and sell this for parts...

The asus price does seem really good but if that's for motherboard replacement that is usually the most expensive part.

    Sorry to hear :(.

I haven't taken mine to any technicians or anything. I'm just going to part mine out on eBay. Would be nice though if I could some how test the motherboard or video card to see which one is the faulty part (although I suspect the motherboard). Each of these go for around $400 so if by any chance one of these things worked, I'd be ecstatic.

What happens if you run it without the GPU inside? Does it at least sound like it boots or give some other sign of life?

I was told by 2 technicians and the Asus level 2 tech support that the motherboard and graphics card are one piece. So if one component breaks, the other is toast too. I wouldn't recommend selling everything on eBay just yet if you can help it... I sent my laptop to Asus in Markham, Ontario this morning and I'll let you know if they raise the price on me. I doubt it though. They estimated 5-7 business days

If its fixed then you could do the same thing

I had this issue, and it was drivers playing havoc. Took me weeks to get it sorted but touch wood, its been great since. Update your bios to the latest version, I think the touchpad had some driver issues and lastly the graphics driver to the one on the Asus driver support section for your device. Use an external monitor or TV if that helps, mine did sort of boot once in a blue moon.
