Richdog, cool, so you don't have to uninstall Realtek to disable the effect of sending all the audio through the sub, you can just go into the AudioWizard and select OFF, that's great news.
There isn't a separate entry in Programs and Features for the AudioWizard/MaxxAudio, but in the unpacked/unzipped RealTek HD package, you will see the files, and there is a setup configuration file that has global settings that might work to disable installing the MaxxAudio stuff:

But, as long as you can have the Realtek Manager installed, and can disable the MaxxAudio/AudioWizard by setting OFF, it isn't such a pressing need.
Thanks for listening, I know I can get very detailed, but if I don't then there are so many points where someone can read something I say and go off on a tangent.
I put in the detail to focus the point, but unless you stick through the entire reading, sometimes the point gets missed for all the detail![]()

Don't take it the wrong way, I really appreciate your replies and help, you are really putting effort into it and it's very kind!
So what I am not 100% sure of is... with the DSP off, is my sound working 100% as intended? It seems like it is, dynamic range and the soundstage are much fuller, but it's hard to be sure. As I said, I think it may be, but it's just bad overall speaker design where it still seems to be coming from the front left. The designers at ASUS are clearly not competent in this area, they should take a look at Lenovo and MSI to get some ideas of how to do better audio.
if all else fails, I also have a very good bluetooth portable JBL Flip2 speaker to use when I'm out and about that kicks the of laptop speakers. -
If the sound is still coming from the front left and you hear nothing natively coming from the back right - it's not working as intended. That simple.
Trust me, I'd know if all it took was disabling Maxx/DSP. I've tried that. The sub became less distorted, but it was still the sub, alright.
Sorry to burst your bubbles. -

So what you are hearing without the AudioWizard/MaxxAudio is going to sound weak compared to other laptops. With the AudioWizard/MaxxAudio enabled and tuned to your liking it will sound as good as and better than most other laptops.
But, I do get what you are saying, you have no idea if there is something else going on and are you really hearing the sound as designed, even without the AudioWizard/MaxxAudio. You would need a working G750 and try it side by side - maybe I will do that when the G751 shows up in my area -

This remains unsolved? I was going to buy this laptop, but I saw a review on Amazon now about the exact same thing, and it's really putting me off this machine...
-
If you place your ear up near the right bottom corner of the screen, and you can't hear any proper, noticeable, clear audio coming from it - that means the sound is focused on the location you hear it from, AKA the subwoofer.
Essentially what the program does is change the effect that the computer applies to its audio - turning it off shouldn't be doing anything to fix an error with the signals being sent to the wrong channels, that's a larger problem than just audio processing.
-
So is this issue happening with all laptops? I just rma'd mine because of this issue! The new one they send me will this be a issue again?
-
No idea how widespread it is, but there are 9 people who have come forward with it so far on the ROG boards, including us. I'm just glad they're working on a fix.
If you haven't already, use the tool that MarshallR provided on the ROG forums (with all support site drivers installed, Realtek too) - and PM him with the dump file it creates.
Here's his post:

Mines already in the mail back to ncix

At least the Asus guy responded in the other forum that they are working on a driver update. I guess in 1 day - 2 months it should be out.
-
If they can fix the subwoofer issue and do so within that time limit, I'm fine. If not, I will have lost almost all my faith in ASUS.
I'm hoping it gets fixed within the next two weeks max, with our log dumps, it should be much easier for them to pinpoint the issue. -
To pinpoint yes, to go through quality testing, probably no. In big companies that always takes several weeks, sometimes even months. And that is if they don't find any bug while testing, otherwise the time starts from the beginning. Simply don't reinstall Windows and you are actually fine.
You also deleted the backup copy that was on the HDD? -
I don't understand what reinstalling windows has to do with anything.
I am the only one who has had the issue afterreinstalling the OS, all of the other people who have experienced this issue on the ROG forums have had it since they opened their boxes. This is not an issue I caused for myself. It is widespread. -
Oh sorry, I didn't really read all the posts in the ROG forum. To bad, I just hope it's not a hardware issue.
-
It's not. In the same thread, I've outlined steps to force windows to use its own generic audio drivers for the speakers, and they work completely fine. (Both sub/speakers can put out sound, but not at the same time.)
-
Okay guys, got my G751JT-7032H yesterday and i also have the sound problem. Sound is slightly from the left (subwoofer?)
Everything else is fine. I really hope the software update will be available sooner then later because i'm thinking about sending it back to Amazon. -
-
I don't mind dealing with lower quality sound than I'm used to from the speakers, (I'm an audiophile) but I do want to have WORKING speakers for when I do need to use the laptop's sound system. (As opposed to my sound bar.) -
This guy claims to have found a fix... he writes like a nincompoop though and hardly provides any real detail, so cant tell if hes trolling or not G751JY and G751JT audio problem solved??? let me know
-
It's not fixed. I just tried both the driver versions he linked, neither changed a thing.
-
-
Interesting, the thread got moved or deleted on the ROG forum.
