    Dear Notebook Review members,

I bought my G73Sw in August 2011 for almost 1700 euro's, i was very happy with the machine but after 1 month the first problem occurred.
My G73's GPU died and i sent it to ASUS for a replacement. After a few month i had to sent it to ASUS again for a new motherboard and failing Bluetooth adapter. After those 2 RMA's the system worked fine for a while but then my PSU broke, this caused a lot of problems. This time i wrote ASUS a letter and called them a couple of times. I signed up my system for a SWAP analysis. ASUS offered me a G75VW (i7 3610QM, GTX670 3G5), i accepted the offer and i was so happy when it arrived today (15-01-2013). But after 30 minutes the machine shut itself down without showing a BSOD. I wasn't able to boot the system unless i did a hard-reset. I was furious i called the ASUS help desk (again) and they said it could be a software/driver problem. I tried 2 different Windows distributions with the OEM drivers and the latest drivers from the internet. Both did not solve the problem. I could not believe that this system is failing too. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this horrible problem. I'm convinced that i will never buy an ASUS product from now on.

    Kind regards,

    Rob

The first thing I would do is download the Intel INF for Win 8 from Intel's site. These units were released with Win 8 before Intel got their drivers out, so it's a good chance that this should correct your situation. I would run the installer with the -overall command to force update all components. Since all other hardware drivers rely on the chipset drivers, this is probably your best bet.

Thanks you for the reply Chasity, i've tried a lot but i gave up the struggle. I've requested another SWAP/RMA for my unit.

Hi Chastity. I'm on the verge on buying the G75VW-DH71-CA.(Windows 8) Is this Intel INF update utility a must? or should I now worry until issues arise?

If you do not install, then you will be using MS basic drivers. They may not be the best optimal.
