I would prefer to see something with 18.4' screen actually! Notebook is big enough & heavy and it can be done! After my 17.1' laptop, somehow I feel smaller screen in front of me with 17.3' because of height of the screen. So 18.4' would be awesome!

It becomes a very niche market at that point and decent panels are hard to find too.

Are 18.4' screens really a lot expensive than 17.3' in 2014 and would it be less preferable if 18.4' would be more or less at the same KG with 17.3'? I think Asus used in 2012 18.4' at mid range notebook then the serie hasnt been continued.

I would buy one if they put it out there. I use my notebooks as portable desktop. I seldom ever use on battery or not on a desk of some sort. So weight doesn't really effect me.

Yes I was surprised to see the forum section pop us. So far not much information there either. I would have thought you guys would know more about these than we do.

Well, there's a thread for G551 (some speculation regarding GX550 there as well) http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/754260-asus-rog-g551.html and as far as I can remember G751 design sketch popped up somewhere here as well. Nothing much more really... Mostly frustrated waiting game discussion though ;)

Well for the MOD on the ROG forums to put up a forum for those models I think we'll be seeing them soon. Doesn't help me I still keep this one another year. And the next one will definitely be through a Custom Dealer

It's not expense but what model options there are. Not many machines use 18.4" so panels are updated slowly.

@Meaker As a retailer, do you happen to have any insight why UK prices are so high at the moment compared rest of the EU? Especially recent models are priced higher than in Scandinavia. This used to be other way around (I've been residing both market areas for years). As an economist, I am certain it has nothing to do with the changes in GBP against EUR.

There has been a general trend for that across several brands. I think they decided the market could bear a higher price I guess.

I'm attached to a us reseller (in my sig ) so i don't think that's what you are looking for. All the gaming notebook vendors are pretty restricted on where you can get them in the uk.

The name is so confusing...the G751 was meant to be the successor of G750 but instead they rename it as G771...
And are they smoked? G751 is redesigned while G771 is using the N series DNA ? Are they trying to cost down or what?

I think people saw the 751 and assumed that.

The 751 had to be designed since they had not done a 15.6" machine.

I got to play with an early-version of the G771 and gathered my impressions here: Asus G771JW / G771 review - a capable 17 inch multimedia laptop .

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions, it's going back to Asus in a day or two.

BTW, the G771 is not a follow-up for the G750 imh, it's mostly a successor of the N750, with whom it shares many features. Asus will have the G751 as well, with higher end graphics and hopefully much better cooling.

Nice review, Sir! I really hope that the G751 cooling will be something like latest G750's have. At least that "leaked" G751 sketch picture indicates so... Asus seems to have lost some focus on ROG recent months though.

How the hell is the Asus laptop throttling with a 860m? Is this even right? What.

Now I'm even more confused. Which is the 15.6" labeled as then?

The G751 is supposely a successor of G750 but instead they made it a 15.6" size laptop so technically it's G55's successor.
I don't understand why all the sudden they have to make the N series laptop into ROG line up and confuses the hell out of everyone.

^ Weird they made their 17 gaming notebooks into a 15.6. Their marketing team must of been drinking lol.

Better screen options and a more portable system, you can fit top end cooling into the design. It makes sense.

Maybe, but they had both the 17 and the 15 inchers in the past and I was expecting they'd keep both models. The name is confusing though, G7x have been 17 inchers for as long as I can remember.

There are some advantages for a 17 inch model, besides the larger screen: extra storage options (although now with M.2 slots included, a single 2.5" bay is probably enough), perhaps a bigger battery and more space inside for the cooling solution. I wonder if the G550 was more popular than the G750, or was it the other way around?

Uhh I have yet to see a new design from Asus ROG actually. Their multi-media laptop series are being turned turned into ROG series. Just look at the NX500, yes the specs are different but the aesthetics are just the same. And I'm still dissapointed they discontinued the G46vw :(

Hopefully we do get a full 17 inch refresh too as options are good but you can never tell with asus.
