Hi - I've been having CPU lockup and issues with gaming due to the CPU fan acting up. I was able to get replacements for both the CPU and VGA fans from Europe when the laptop was a year old (first CPU fan died) and swapped them out awhile back but now the CPU fan is kaput, again.

I can still find the first part but the second is showing End of Life. Any options out there? How about transplanting a proper four wire fan into this chassis? 3.5yrs out of a gaming laptop is a good run but would hate to have to buy another over a $25 part. And no, Asus in the US won't sell them and didn't before either (require you to send the entire laptop back).

I replied this to you on another thread.
    Did you try contacting them?

Also, why do you think you need to replace the fans?
Because they "act up", what is a fan acting up?
Isn't the laptop just needing a repaste and a cleanup of the fans and heatsink fins?

everything was repasted with Arctic compound a month ago. FPS was rock solid for a day but then started cycling again. They rubberband from 175 normally to 35-40. Also, audio will be problematic indicating CPU throttling. Swapping over to Youtube once that happens and video and audio are choppy too so clearly its not lag but the fans.

The fan is bad...it's noisy AF and when it tries to run, will actually increase in tone and then stop. Brrr. Brrr. Brrr.

I got a new VGA fan and a new cooler fan in yesterday. I was able to find two CPU fans overseas and arrive today....will repaste and put some thermal pads on and swap the fans out and hopefully that solves it.
