is this normal?
i used to do some really intense GTA4 marathons and my GPU never overheated, but now i installed Episodes from Liberty City and it runs very smoothly up until it shuts down my G73 from, i presume, overheating.
anyone else had that experience?

Is yours a G73Jh or G73Jw?
I just read in the Jw owners lounge that there's a GTA patch that fixes some issues: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-reviews-owners-lounges/518687-asus-g73jw-owners-lounge-125.html#post6943675
Keep an eye on your temps so that you know what they actually are, and check your system log for any error messages around the time of the shutdown. -
it's G73JH-A1, i never had any problems playing games before and i've always been on stock vBIOS and BIOS 209. Never had any kind of SOD.
i think it overheats on EFLC because the GPU temps reach 105C or more really quickly and it shuts down, even during cutscenes.
how do i check my system log? -

You may want to update your BIOS and VBIOS then. There are links for all that here.
Your system log will show you some warnings or errors probably.

thanks for the info.
i think i solved it, kinda.
if i turn Shadow Quality OFF, my gpu temps get no higher than 103C and everything is ok. If i even set Shadow Quality to LOW i get a shutdown.
i'm curious if anyone's G73JH is able to run EFLC with any kind of Shadow Quality switched on and without shutting down after 10 min. -
GTA4 EFLC shuts down my G73 after 10 min, while GTA4 never did such a thing. why?
