I would like to get an hdmi 1.4 compatible laptop so i can run a 3d game to my 3d plasma. I know that the 460M isn't exactly "the best" graphics card, but by going through hdmi 1.4, the resolution is limited to 1366x768 (won't run full 1080p). i guess what i'm trying to ask is how does the graphics card run games in 3d at this resolution?

Will the card run 3d games well, or will frames per second be crap?

Well, I have yet to see a decent, modern game play in 3d with *any* setup. Left 4 dead 2 was alright at 30fps with SLI 460s ... but ... 30 fps. On a desktop. With SLI.
