I haven't used my computer for some serious gaming in a while. Now i have started using it again for games like BC2 and Crysis and it seems that the FPS is alot lower then it used to be when i used to play before and the games gradually slow down more and more until they are unplayable.
Is there a reason as to why is is happening and could it be that I have'nt cleaned the vents since i got the computer about 9 months ago.
It seems to peak at 85C and that might be the reason. Though is there another reason that any of you might come up with.
Thanks in advanceto those who reply.

Yes. Try cleaning the vents and fan. A repaste will help too. And it's a 460m, not a 470m. I thought you managed to transplant a 470m onto your computer. :-D
-
Yeah sorry i just noticed that. I will try that, thought could that be a reason for such a slow down for me to notice it. Is 85C really that hot for a gpu
-
85 is not bad. I get 84c max after gaming for hours on end. It hasn't ever crossed 84 for me. I have a g53jw. Idle temps are 47 for GPU and 50 for CPU. What about your idle temps?
-
I just finished playing BC2 and it ran better. Most likely due to me uninstalling C++ packages which seem to have been a problem for other users.
Max temps according to GPU-Z are 92C. Which is higher than you are reporting, which means I will most likely need to clean out my vents which are 9months old and haven't been cleaned since i bought the computer.
Idle Temps seem to be sitting at around 55-57 on my GPU and CPU.
Going to clean vents tomorrow and report on how that works out.
--Thanks for the reply and rep added btw. -
Well. Your idle temps are high. So Yes. You definitely need to clean out your vents atleast. And if temps are still high, repaste.

How do you go about cleaning out the vents in this laptop by the way. THeres no screws

There's a disassembly thread somewhere in here. I'm sorry i can't put in the link cuz I'm using my phone to come online. You have to remove the keyboard and disassemble the computer almost completely.
EDIT: Alternatively, search for g53jw disassembly video on Google or youtube. Put up by BTOtech i think. -
Here are a couple of youtube videos:
BTOtech.com | G53Jw & G53Sw Disassembly Take Apart G53 g53j service manual - YouTube

I used the top video and this post to throw in a SSD and more memory:

Should give you a leg up if you plan to disassemble the laptop.
