ive read on the forums about fans not turning on till the comp is about to do a thermal shutdown, but im the opposite. my fan won't shut off  . worked fine in vista hp 64 but when i upgraded to 7 pro 64 i hit this prob.

love the laptop, but i havent had it for 4 days yet, dont want to already have to rma it

did i mention that i haven't played a game on it and the highest temp is 47c @ 72% load?

I started a thread on this a long time ago: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/501830-g51vx-sound-only-works-after-sleep-fans-buggy.html

Then another user also posted about his G51VX fan running like crazy: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/518861-fanspeed-g51vx-problem.html

It didn't take very long to find these threads with a search, but I'll pretend those other two don't exist...

Anyway, I've never seen a fix and I don't have it with me to do any more testing. RMA is the only way to fix it that I know of.

You could always try the cooling mod, or maybe undervolt your CPU or underclock your GPU:

    Best of luck.

    what driver are you using?

get GPU-Z and see if your downclocking when you are suppose to be..

i had an issue where the gpu wouldn't downclock when using the nvidia drivers.. i had to use the Asus drivers to get it to work correctly.

changed drivers. no difference. wondering though, since theres a new G51VX model is the download page giving me drivers for the new model? i have the asus rec cd for vista was thinking of loading drivers from there then running an update driver, but i don't want to make things worse
