We finally get to see 17” laptops with thin bezels!
Only con I see is it only comes with a GTX 1060, not really a bad thing but hopefully we see next gen GTX 2xxx series GPU’s after they are released.
Asus has teamed up with AU Optronics to develop a 17.3-inch 144 Hz/3 ms panel made specifically for gaming and the narrow-bezel GL704 will be the first to use it.

+No per key RGB still , and a weak audio performance (as usual)
And what will they charge for it? $2.000?

No idea how much it’s going to cost, but I’m more excited to see thin bezels in 17” laptops than anything else.
I hope this trend continues with more companies making thin and lite laptops.
In all honesty I think the specs are a bit underwhelming besides the screen and new chassis.

If only it was available with a 1070 like its little brother.

Unfortunately it seems to have above average loud fans when gaming, it’s on the expensive side for a GTX 1060 laptop but offers very good build quality with a excellent screen.
Little disappointed about the loud fans but overall a decent job by ASUS for being the first slim bezel 17’’ laptop, hopefully we see more OEM’s offer slim and lite thin bezel 17” laptops but with less aggressive fan profiles.

Actually, I believe the TongFang GK7CN6S preceded the Asus GL704 market-wise. There's also the upcoming MSI GE75 Raider which I've yet to see on sale anywhere.
Hope we see further development in this particular market and improvement over existing models (I completely agree those noise levels are surprisingly high in comparison to other models, even 15" ones).
    Cheers!

I just read the GL704 review... shame about the fan noise. Hopefully another review pops up later and someone can confirm Asus might go through the bother of changing the fan profiles in the future. It might happen. The review mentioned 50mm fans, they might be the same as on the GL504. Shame that they perhaps couldn't go with a wider diameter and lower RPM fan. It might just be what it is.

Probably a business decision relating to volume pricing since 15" models are traditionally more popular than 17" ones. I believe this popularity is due to size, which is ironic considering a thin bezel 17" could have a similar footprint as a "wide bezel" 15" (and thin bezel 15" to "wide bezel" 14")
