Are there any gaming asus laptops that don't have a gimped gtx 560 card? I'd love to have an asus, but I don't want one that has a gimped card. This was the primary reason i'm going to get a sager. Thanks for your responses.

The top model of the G74, the G74SX-A1 I believe.

EDIT: In fact I think only the BB models have the gimped cards dude. The Amazon/Newegg models for example should be fine.

The easiest way to tell is look at how much video RAM the card has. If it's the 2 GB 560M, it's gimped. If not, you're golden.

Wait, seriosuly? I thought it was every single sx model that had the gimped card! Can you confirm it's only the best buy model?

17 inches is to big for me, since portability is an issue & price. So I guess my best deal is still the sager np8130? I don't want a 460m card if i can get a 192 bit 560m.

I love my 17", but I dont travel with mine except to go to my neighbors to play. If on a plain it will go in a back pack, but it would be my only carry on. if you want a 15" then with a 560m or better then go with another brand. I love my G73SW, but I would look for a laptop with a 6990m or 470/570 if I was going to get something new.

    Yep.
If you read comments above, it says that anything with 2gb of vram is gimped.
The G53sx models have all the gimped gpu.

    FTW does "gimped" mean?

Not english native, not any more clever Googling this...

Sure don´t hope I´m gimped with my 1½ years old G73JH?

    :(

From what i understood , it's like if it was not at a maximum speed.

Gimped card are like 128 bus , where " full power " cards are 192.

That's what i understood in my non-native poor english xD

Correct. Gimped means that a card has received some sort of "cuts".
These cuts are more or less "heavy" on the card perfomance.

Remember that a "gimped" card beside having a slow bus of 128bit, has less ROPs as well, which translates in more degrading in performance and poor power.

It's a strange word that means injured or slowed down. If, for instance, you saw a dog hobbling along on three legs because he hurt one of them, you would say he was gimpy. It usually refers to something being slowed down or hindered in some way.

I have a knee with twenty five screws in it because someone hit me on my motorcycle and crushed it. I have a couple of "friends' that call me gimpy because I limp. I don't find it very endearing, but hopefully it helps you with the word.

Go for the G53SW dude. It has the 460m, which from what I've been told, is much bette than the gimped 560m. Also, it's a cheaper price at the moment.
