I have a g50 that just decided to die on me a week after my warranty, the problem is the computer wont get past the "Starting Windows" screen no matter what I do, I have reverted all my bios settings to default, reseated my ram, toggled the mobo battery, and nothing has helped. I have it trying to start from the ODD but even then it gets stuck on the windows screen. Any help would be appreciated I hate having a 1700 dollar paperweight.

Try hitting F8 repeatedly to select safe mode. Then run a chkdsk /f c: if windows boots to check your disk for errors.

If you can't do this, you can boot from a CD or DVD by hitting ESC a couple of times immediately after you turn on the computer.

Ive tried booting from the disk drive and it doesn't work, and I tried safemode multiple times and it stops loading at disk.sys, so I reset the mobo again, and reconnected the disk drive and nothing.

try and take out your hdd and boot from the disk, if it is hanging on the hard drive it may not be able to get passed it if your hdd is failing.

    So.

    1. Take out your HDD
    2. Boot from your Windows installation disk and see if you can get into the installation screen - you will get an error ( No available hard drive to install)

Also get a LiveCD of Ubuntu or a similar setup to verify you can get into an OS with the HDD unplugged (if you have a thumb drive you can even try and and do a win7 install on your thumb drive)
