Hi all! I will be going off to college soon and for the last year and a half I have been pouring across the internet looking for the best gaming laptop for my price range. I have gone back and fourth A LOT, but I have come to the conclusion that the Asus g75vx is the best bet. They sell them at the Best Buy a town over, and for about 1200$ I can get one with a quad core i7 3630, a 750gb 5400 RPM HDD, and a 670mx graphics card.
I know it is VERY large, but I am getting a good bag for it, and I am a very tall, large framed person, so it is not a big deal.
What I would like some help with:
Do I need to download drivers for the video card, and if so, where is the best place to do so?
I got a 128gb Samsung 840 pro SSD that I am putting in the second hard drive bay inside the laptop. Could someone please tell me how to move the OS (windows 8), over to the SSD in as simple a way as possible?
Thank you for your help! If you know anything else I should know or that might help me with getting started, please say so.

AFA I know that machine ships with Nvidia card - Nvidia Drivers & Downloads - Nvidia and the answer is maybe, if you do not have any issues when you get it there may be no need to update the drivers.
Data migration software is one free solution to move the OS from the stock drive to the 840. Samsung SSD | Samsung Semiconductor Global Website Once you are up and running install the magician software and if needed the firmware update (all on the linked page)
Also make sure the BIOS is set to ACHI for the new drive -
Thank you!
What do I do to OC the video card? (safe levels) -
Hi mate,
first u want to delete all the Asus bloatware they ship with the laptop manually
or going for a clean windows install from zero.
the only driver u need to install (if u decide to delete the bloatware manually) is the nvidia for your graphics card.
about the video temps...I don't really know about your model temps
but I'm using the G73JH-A2 with the Zalman NC2000 and the temps are in the normal range.
I recommend to u to use a notebook cooler. -
Make sure you get an AUO display on the 75VX since the CMO Chi Mei panels are notorious in having grainy surface.

OC ?? Overclocking the G75VX GTX670MX . If you OC I would also recommend 3rd party software to monitor temps (such as HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools )
BTW best of luck with the new machine!! -
