Hey guys, how are you doing?

I didn't want to create a new topic for this, as I know that there are lots of troubleshooting in this forum, but I didn't find an answer for my question.

I wanna buy a G73JW, but since I live in Brazil, I can't RMA my notebook to the US if a problem occurs.

I would like to know if the PSOD problem, that happens with the JH model a lot, also happens in the JW, cuz the other problems that I've heard about are all fixable by myself.

Do you guys think that this machine would trouble me? I need the portability of a notebook and the power that this machine provides, and the price is really good!

    Thank you :)!

No you shouldn't have problems, and if they did a Bios update could fix this. With that being said, anything could happen.

PSOD is pretty rare on the JH models from what I've seen. It requires an LCD replacement. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

The GSOD problem (which is specific to the ATI display adapter on the JH models) is the one that happens with a high percentage of JH units, but there's a firmware update that fixes it for most people. This one doesn't apply to JW models so no need to worry there either.

    My prediction? You'll love your G73 :)

No point in buying the JW if you still have your money just get the SW sandybridge cpu version unless the price difference is around $400-500. If the SW model is not out yet on your country just be patient and wait for a little bit

I believe the G73JW-A1 is around $1700-1750 and the SW version is around $1750-1800

I looked for the G73SW here, but the price difference is absurd!

In Brazil, a G73JW is (in american dollars) $3000...the G73SW is $3700...That's a lot of money!

But I'm friends with a shop owner in Paraguay where there are almost no taxes, so he will get me one of the JWs (cuz he doesn't have the SW available yet) for $2000...

Best I could do atm hahahah
