I found a deal for someones selling their ASUS G752V laptop for $640

2.6GHz Intel Core i7-6700HQ (quad-core, up to 3.5GHz with Turbo Boost)
    GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M (3GB GDDR5)
    Intel HD Graphics 530.
    RAM: 16GB DDR4.Screen:
    17.3-inch, full HD 1,920 x 1,080, IPS LCD.
    Storage: 128GB SSD; 1TB HDD (7,200rpm)

I am currently using an ASUS G751 with
    2.6GHz i7-4720HQ
    Same specs as everything above

Should I buy the G752 for $640 and just sell my current one for the same price, is this a good deal for the G752V? Cause this would be an upgrade on the processor I believe for me.

Going from a G751 to a G752 is not an upgrade imo. Actually, the G751 is quieter machine from what I remember. And the 4720HQ is slightly more powerful than the 6700HQ since it has +300MHz boost clockspeed (3.4 vs 3.1)

Hey don_svetlio, I guess in this case then I should keep my current laptop and not buy that one then?

I had no clue the 4720HQ was better than the 6700HQ, I just thought since it is the 6th generation processor it would be better since it is a newer version.

This was what I was going off of.

I mean the actual performance difference between the 2 generations is about 10%. The +300MHz OC is about 10% as well. So they might as well be the exact same CPU for all intents and purposes.

So from what your saying don_svetlio, you would NOT buy this and sell the one I currently have?

I mean, you could but I personally see it as a waste of time. Though I am a bit biased since I personally like the 751 more than the 752.

The difference is when tested at Base clocks (both are 2.6 base) on userbench. Once you factor in the 3.1 vs 3.4 turbo boost the difference is 0% even in synths.
