hello guys I got a friend who bought the G73SW-A1 from NewEgg and he has a problem probably with the graphics card.. when the graphics card gets in use for example playing a game or using a graphic demanding program the screen gets green! i have posted a picture below to show his problem.. also when the screen gets green and he tries to use the print screen funtion the picture taken from print screen does not show the green dots! the specs of the pc are below..also the temperature of the graphics card at idle is 40-42c. He has also installed the latest drivers from nvidia website not the 275.33 WHQL but the ones before!

If it's not in the screenshot and not on an external monitor it is pointing to a display cable problem or a problem with the LCD panel itself.
Try a different driver too, it could just be a software issue. -
he does not have an external monitor so we dont know and yes the screenshot shows it without any green dots..so probably is a display cable problem or a problem with the LCD panel itself?
-
try open pure black document if its get green it's probably bad internal LCD connection
-
pure black document? how?
-
I think he means blank document.
-
Start->paint->new document->drop black colour ; }
when LCD has connection issues its displays red, green or blue colours (RGB) on 100% black surfaces
I really need to work on my English ; ] -
the printscreen 'test' means that the GPU memory is not corrupt, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem with the GPU, the problem may lie when the GPU outputs data to the monitor you know .
-
ok guys we have tried the black colour on a new document in paint and it was ok there werent any other colours just the black! we have uninstalled the drivers of the graphics card and the problem appeared again ! ;/ we have also installed the latest drivers and again the problem exists !! crap!
-
if its new laptop, just send it back... they will replace it : )
-
lol.. in my country (Cyprus) we do not have Asus Support Center.. and thats a bit of a problem!
-
you can also try to change color profile
but I'm not sure if this will help...
OR u can download UBUNTU live CD, just boot it up and check if u have any green dotsif yes its hardware problem
-
You could also try updating the video driver to 275.33 WHQL.
-
we updated it but still the problem exists.. my friend contacted asus through the live chat and they said to him that probably its the graphics card!
-
I had this problem a while ago... It wasn't nearly that bad, but it was just after I had RMAed. That being said, it only happened twice (both on the same night, I blamed it on WoW, as that was what I was playing at the time). I rebooted the first time and it cleared off, the second time it just sorta went away by itself... and I haven't seen it happen again in about 6 months.
I'd be looking at the same thing as everyone else: drivers and bad/dirty connections. It is, I suppose, possible that the card is actually dying. -
Sounds to me it's happening more often, so yeah, I would RMA the card.
-
thats probably what he would do !! anyhow thx everyone for their suggestions!

Hi i have the same problem, with less artifacts, but only when the laptop have a shock on the right side, it goes when it has another shock in the same place, it never happens alone, only with a shock, its an G53JW from newegg, its not annoying and not happens often, should i rma?
EDIT: Shock+Overclock 750/1500/1500 -
Probably means your GPU needs to be reseated, and possibly the heatsink tightened. If you cannot open it yourself, RMA it.
-
do you think it can be a problem in the long term? i mean, i'm actually in morocco, i can't RMA'it, and the problem disappear just with a little shock with my hand on the right side, i have no overheating issues wich temps in gaming are around 83-85c, and in furmark 93c Max, can i fix it manually? and what do you mean by reseated?
sometimes i can do a big shock on the right side and nothing happens even in intensive gaming, and sometimes it appears, with shock, and without, i just have to "slap" it one time and it works disappear for a week -
-
I'm also wondering if the shock is causing the fan to operate properly. -
Before when i "slap" the right side, the green dots appears on the screen for a little moment very fast and then disappear, yesterday, i tried to say what's the problem, i pushed on the back of the laptop ( when i first buy it it has fallen from my hands to the back ) i tried to shake it, after that no artifacts or green dots appeared, usually when i just push the right side of the screen or the laptop, they appear, but know, i can give a really big shock, NOTHING appears, i think i have fixed it buy trying to push the vents with my hands and stabilize the back of the laptop, i will try to overclock to 750 to see if there is a problem
EDIT: Nothing Happens No green dots, i slapped a little in the right Nothing Perfect! -
I... am not going to say anything.
glad it's working
-
um dude... you should of just left it the way it was and got a brand new one man. Again.. that green happened to my laptop the first time i booted it up, returned it and got a new one, and this one is perfection. There might be a chance that the screen will do the same thing again and next time might happen when your warranty is gone.. food for thought...
