so how many overvolted to 1.15?

I have the 160m and the default voltage for mine is 1.09. I would love to crank it up and see how much OC i can gain, but I want to hear what you guys have to say.

Seems the filefront link for the files is down. Is there a mirror? I tried going through the thread and did not see any new links. Thanks. I want to try my hand at this. I have a g50vt also.

Hey.. thanks for the guide.. It works. My idle temperature never above 60 and with 3d06 mark, it never goes above 90. the only problem is the usb boot. it boots from usb but when i tried to backup, it cant. So i used Active@ NTFS Reader Bootable Floppy Creator which is only about 800kb to create a bootable usb. Press 0 then exit to enter dos enviroment fwhen using bootable usb created by Active@ NTFS Reader Bootable Floppy Creator
    Download link:
    http://download2.lsoft.net/NtfsFloppySetup.exe
It increased the 3d06mark by about 450marks. It is still detected as 9800m gs though but 3d06mark detects it as 9800mgt

Yea, I had the same exact temperatures as you with the GTS BIOS flash. I don't know, but the slight overclock really gave the 9800M GS the kick it needed to be all it can be and run what I wanted even better. :D

I agree with you! The flash to GTS gave it enough power to be the beast it should have been all along. It helped me max games that before would run on uneven fps.

If I flash the GTS BIOS onto my GS, does that truly make it a GTS?

Is it as simple as getting the GTS bios and flashing it onto the GS?

    Am I missing something?

Both the 9800M GS and 9800M GTS are physically the same card, except for whatever reason the GS was downclocked to run cooler.

I ran into that the first time i did it. Wont be home for 2 hours so what i suggest is unzip the files into their own folder in the same location as the app and try it again.

Nvidia has a est tools or nvidia system tools like 6.06 or whatever that installs into the control panel for nvidia and u can set all 3 clocks on the fly. You will still need to set voltage and whatever permenant base clocks u want with nibitor and flash the bios. Otherwise u can set post boot clocks and or application based settings with the nvidia stuff. I can send u links and info if u want later. Edit the bios and flash or do it via software doesnt matter unless uj need to change voltages.

so gpuz says my stock clocks are set 530/1325/799
the sensor put out 45c idle and 55c coming out of 3dmark06
pushing my clocks with nvid system tools what would be about the closest i could get to your 600/1500/800 without a volt mod 1.11?

i tried using rivatune last night but it didnt seem to do anything to my card ... i guess i just dont know how to use it

im not sure if rivatune even works on these anymore. As far as your clocks it depends on the chip every single one is different. I can almost run those clocks. I use the scan part of ati tool to check my stability. Problems with 1.05 v start after it hits aboput 90c. My idles on a clean and pasted machine are 45 to 50c unless a second monitor is connected boosting to the extra clocks used for gaming it then sits 65c to 70c idle. One note is your best bet is to maintain the ratio of core to shader i forget what it is but u get it by dividing one by the other u will notice the gts clocks have the same ratio. Sorry about how this is written im still not home yet.

Memory stick in, run program format with the bootable/system disk whatever option. Point towards the files with the windows 98 startup stuff. Once thats done sucessfully you copy nvflash to the stick as well as the bios you want to flash.

Turn off the laptop boot, press escape during the startup to eventually select the memory stick as the drive u want to boot from. You will come to the command prompt and can run nvflash. The syntax varies one what u want to do can probably do /? to get all options listed. "nvflash mybios.bin" will probably get a flash started.

You can use nvflash to copy your existing bios but you can also dump the bios using the little icon next to the bios version in GPU-Z. You can use nibitor to change the values for clocks and voltages etc.

im into the bios my boot drive comes up but,
using Big Spins guide on how to copy my vbios onto the stick it says to type :

nvflash -b OLDBIOS.ROM enter ive tried putting a: infront of it "in front ...
nothing happens just comes back with a error bad command or something of that sorts ... getting t'd off lol ...

im trying to pull my own factory bios and not use one downloaded from the forums ...

are you saying i can use gpuz to extract my current version onto the boot drive ? i see the little chip icon just not sure what it does

Click on it it will download the bios to a file. I forget what it looks like but it has a green arrow over it i think. I dont remember having to do -b but not sure what it is maybe a bad block check?

Cant get my bios to flash on my usb
But currently running 570/800/1400 oc on stock with nvidea tools
That clock seemed to give some lines (columns )when the guy with the gat gun comes out
Should I clock down our would raising shader fix that

    edit :
just ran 570/1450/800 running test came out at 81C avg of 73.1C and max 84C
still get the flashing line/columns on screen with the gatling gun other than that
i finish the benchmarks no problems

running current 266.58 nvidea drivers using ff14 benchmark i got 1987score
after a clock to 550/1400/800 i got 2071 benchmark ran twice 1st run was skiping/ lagging with gpu monitors running

Times the shader by .4 to get the correct ratio if u want to maintain that, it was suggested a couple of years ago for stability and the sake of the card the divider ratio needed to be the same.

    so 1400 * .4 = a Core of 560

If you would rather figure it from the Core instead then * Core by 2.5

So as you will see with the GTS Core = 600 * 2.5 = a Shader of 1500.

You would probably be best served with an overvolt if your having issues as the voltage used for stock clocks was basically the average minimum the chips could use and use those clocks.

Well I took my card back to stock to run a constant test .....it seems I'm retarded as it visually performs the exact same way at clock.....looks to be just the guns flash.... Now testing 580/1450/800 everything looks stable temp came out 80°c avg 74 this is with dtc overclock at max

As i said i use the scan for artifacts in ATi Tool to find my problems. You wont be able to use most of the tool due to the 64 bit driver issues. Not that its suited for these cards either.

Well as in my ability to turn up the clock I've made it to 590/1475/800 on stock voltage
73.5°c avg out at 80°c ... I clocked up to gts speeds and crashed into the middle of first test...
It seems to me if I over volt I should be able to run gts easy?
Thing is how do I flash if I can't even write my own vbios onto my usb?
If I take my bios from gpuz is it the same as taking it from my usb boot screen?
And how then do I plug the modified file into the vbios

Just ran 595/148?~/800.... I ended up finishing but scoring 5116 on 3d mark..way worst than stock...and my fps took a dive big dive

I still dont understand why your running 3dmark tests without checking to see if the overclock is stable. I can lower my voltage to unstable and run through 06 with 0 visible issues.

how do i test if its stable ?
    use that ati program?
i may have run into a problem as CPUID says the voltage on the card is set 0.90 for the original 1.5

edit: NVM i restored the clocks back to default and did a rebot my voltage is back to 1.05

The cards voltage changes depending on what clock mode its running in. When your not in a 3d app it will drop to lower clocks and run .9 volt. Myne is at the moment typing in this web browser.

Launched atitool and hit scan artifacts without changing anything in the program
Its running says no errors on the bottom of this rug looking picture.
It does show little yellow dots above the rug on the background at times

Yellow dots are rendering problems. Sometimes it wont catch them but you will get worse yellow sections that will say something and then it will start the count over again. When rendering and memory (were not touching mem clocks here so no worries) errors occur they cause the yellow stuff. The cube is like fur mark its a cube of fur, You can see it move in the option next to the scan but the scan is what u want.

Yes you should be able to dump a perfect copy of the bios with gpu-z so u can edit it in nibitor. I still have to find the time to write you some flashing instructions.

So what am I looking for ati to do?
I did the cube rotate on the 590/1475/800 clock and it crashed
Now running 580/1450/800 the 3d view has not crashed... The only thing I'm seeing is the yellow line /dots on the artifact scanning .. But those even showed up on stock clocks tho not as much

here i go again which line am i changing on the nibitor tool ... have a page open that says to change 3D which sits at 400/800/300
on top of that there is my actuall clock speeds extra: 530/1325/799
so which is the rite one to change ?

a .bin file will load up to the vbios just like a .ROM file ?

nvflash requires it to be a particular name i forget which but i have to rename sometimes. Old dos command "Rename gtsclocks.bin gtsclocks.rom" vice versa can do it while in dos if it says its the wrong name

The 530/1325 is core and shader leave the mem alone. The power tab will come with a warning u just need to up from 1.05 to 1.1

okay so i changes the the values in the "extra" slot and the voltage to 1.11
went ahead and saved that file as NEWBIOS.ROM

took the OLD .bin file opened with nibitor and just saved it again but as OLDBIOS.ROM is this valid and i can now boot the GTS speed bios onto my card?

    nvflash NEWBIOS.ROM [enter] ?

i do believe that command should do the trick yes and yes.

If there are any problems with the clocks you will only see them when the card is in the extra mode, such as gaming or dual monitors. So if you run into issues you will be fine under windows and u can just reflash the card back if need be.

That means it didn't find nvflash.exe. Copy the contents of the nvflash folder into the same directory of the drive.
